Daily Dogs – Thursday, February 28

Sandown Park: Race 1 (7:07pm AEDT)
No. 3 Libby's Dream

Libby’s Dream will carry winning form into the first at Sandown Park tonight and looks well placed to go on with the job. The two-year-old daughter of Banjo Boy was an impressive winner in her first start for trainer Leanne Polato in January, but was only fair to the line in her two subsequent starts at a tougher grade. The ten-length win over 520m at Sale that she recorded last week was easily the most dominant performance of her career, however and a repeat of that would see her extremely tough to beat again.

Sandown Park: Race 5 (8:25pm AEDT)
No. 5 Apex Within

Apex Within has been in scintillating form recently and gets the chance to win another at Sandown Park tonight. Twenty-one wins and nine minors from only forty-three starts is how the ledge reads for the two-year-old so far and he has barely been tested at his two most-recent performances, which included a run at this track and distance last time out. His form from central boxes is solid and clearly, he is a prolific winner.

best bet
Sandown Park: Race 6 (8:49pm AEDT)
No. 1 Courting

Courting is another dog that he been airborne recently and she will take a power of beating in the sixth at Sandown tonight. The daughter of Magic Sprite continued to improve with racing upon resuming early last month, but she has now clearly found peak condition after stringing together three-consecutive wins, each more dominant that the last. She relishes racing on the 515m course and can stay away from early trouble from Box 1.

Sandown Park: Race 8 (9:28pm AEDT)
No. 4 Payton

Payton will enjoy a step back in class into the eighth at Sandown Park tonight and with even luck in running, is good enough to salute at a nice price. The three-year-old has finished outside of the first three in her five most-recent starts and powered home late to finish a length third at The Meadows last time out, despite being unwanted in the market. I’m happy to take on the favourite in this race and Payton does look the one to do it.

Daily Dogs – Wednesday, February 27

Hatrick: Race 10 (12:44pm AEDT)
No. 4 Cawbourne Cruz

Cawbourne Cruz was checked out of his most-recent run but has recorded several impressive performances and results this campaign and can return to winning form in the tenth at Hatrick this afternoon. The son of Swift Fancy was a dominant winner here late last month and continued to performer well in tougher grades without winning; finishing second over 375m two starts back most notably. He’s rock-hard fit and does have an edge over most of today’s rivals at his best.

Richmond: Race 7 (5:37pm AEDT)
No. 5 Push Your Luck

Push Your Luck has recorded several pleasing results recently and looks well placed to win at Richmond again today. All in all, the daughter of Fabregas has won four of her six most-recent starts and placed on the other two occasions, and she has shown a particularly strong affiliation with the 400m circuit here at Richmond. This is a drop in class from her most-recent effort for second and she’ll take a power of beating.

each way

Wentworth Park: Race 7 (9:04pm AEDT)

Hotplate has been flying since returning from a break and can score a third-consecutive win at Wentworth Park tonight. The three-year-old has finished outside the places only once in seven starts since Boxing Day, but his two most-recent performances have been particularly dominant and a repeat of either would see him winning again.

Daily Dogs – Tuesday, February 26

Cranbourne: Race 5 (8:05pm AEDT)
No. 5 Mighty Max Gone

Mighty Max Gone has been airborne this time and strikes another very winnable one at Cranbourne tonight. The son of Barcia Bale strung together three impressive wins in January and earlier this month, and while he did miss the start at Warrnambool last time, he still worked home well to finish third. His form from central boxes is good and he’ll take a power of beating once more.

Cranbourne: Race 7 (8:42pm AEDT)
No. 4 Zero Five

Zero Five will carry winning form into he seventh at Cranbourne tonight and looks well placed to make it two in a row. Lightning Seven looks to have a decent class edge over his rivals at Cranbourne tonight and can return to winning form. The two-year-old is another dog that has continue to improve with racing recently and worked home well to finish on the heels of the placegetters last time out. This is a drop in class and he has recorded the fastest time at the trip of any dog in this field.

Daily Dogs – Monday, February 25

Healesville: Race 7 (2:19pm AEDT)
No. 2 Rosta Power

Rosta Power has been a strong and consistent performer this time and strikes another winnable one at Healesville this afternoon. The daughter of Magic Sprite was an impressive winner two starts back and produced another eye-catching effort to charge home late for second at this track and distance last time. She clearly relishes the straight and looks the one to beat again.

Healesville: Race 9 (2:59pm AEDT)
No. 1 Brave Innings

Brave Innings’ two most-recent efforts have been excellent, and she is over the odds to win down the Healesville straight today ($8 at publish). The three-year-old did take a few to get going when resuming in December, but her last two starts suggest that she is ready to return to winning form and will enjoy what does look a step back in class this afternoon.

No. 4 Naveed

Naveed has only made three appearances at the races so far but has more than stamped herself as a dog to follow and can fight out the finish of the third at Albion Park tonight at a nice price ($9 at publish). The daughter of Fernando Bale ran home well to finish third at Ipswich on debut and has only continued to improve with racing; comfortably winning her last two. This is another step up in class, but she still has plenty of upside and has the runs on the board.

Albion Park: Race 5 (8:43pm AEDT)
No. 4 Shadow Court

Shadow Court was an impressive winner last time out and will be tough to beat again tonight. The two-year-old hasn’t finished outside the places in her six most-recent starts and proved her class again at this track and distance last time out, having led all the way from a central box. If she steps favourably again tonight, she’ll take a power of beating.

No. 2 Two More Models

Two More Models has been racing well recently and strikes another winnable one at Capalaba today, at a nice price. The son of Crash flew home to score at Casino two starts back before a credible performance in tougher company at Albion Park last time out. This should prove to be an easier task and as long as he steps well from the central box, he can fight out the finish.

Capalaba: Race 12 (3:30pm AEDT)
No. 1 Tubby Turner

Tubby Turner was checked early at Ipswich last time out and was unable to recover, but he has otherwise been a strong and consistent performer and will be tough to beat in the last at Capalaba. The son of Fabregas won a 431m sprint at Ipswich three starts back, but his win under the same conditions two back was particularly dominant and a repeat of that effort would see him winning this.

Albion Park: Race 7 (8:04pm AEDT)
No. 5 Rapid Blaze

Rapid Blaze has been excellent this time and will be tough to beat in Brisbane tonight. The three-year-old has been finishing off her races well and flew home from the tail of the field to finish a close second at this track and distance last week, having scored an easy win under the conditions three back. She’s rock hard fit and bad luck looks the only real danger.

No. 8 Cosmic Blend

The scratching of Fantastic Yankee has made this look like a one-dog race. Cosmic Blend has been racing well this time and was an impressive winner at this track and distance two starts back before producing another credible performance in a tougher race to finish third. He’ll relish a return to these conditions and his form from out wide is outstanding. He has speed to burn and with even luck, should prove too good.

No. 1 Flowing

Simply put, Flowing has been airborne this time and looks well placed to win again at Wentworth Park tonight. The daughter of Fabregas has won each of her four most-recent starts, each more dominant than the last and she should only improve into this race. You can take even money at publish, but I’m not sure that quote will last.

each way

Winsome Stride turned in a rare lacklustre run last time out but has been a strong and consistent performer otherwise and is good enough to fight out the finish in this company. The two-year-old son of Fernando Bale has been finishing off his races extremely well and as long as he doesn’t run into trouble from his wide draw tonight, he’s over the odds in the market.

Daily Dogs – Friday, February 22

Healesville: Race 1 (11:56am AEDT)
No. 5 Muza's Angel

Muza’s Angel has been racing well without winning but looks beautifully placed to break her maiden at Healesville this afternoon. The daughter of Moreira has continued to improve as she’s learned her craft and attacked the line at Warragul to finish second two starts back, before another credible performances at Cranbourne. No. 3 Simply Shadow

Simply Shadow was checked here at Richmond last time and was unable to recover, but his form prior was outstanding, and he can atone in the third tonight. Mixed Spice got too far back last time out, but her inside draw tonight should be beneficial and she looms as a live chance again. The daughter of Dyna Villa produced a huge performance to win at the track and distance two runs back and her overall form from inside boxes is excellent. She just needs a bit of luck in transit to be in the finish once more.
