Daily Dogs – Wednesday, February 20

Albion Park: Race 2 (4:08pm AEDT)
No. 3 Mixed Spice

Mixed Spice got too far back last time out, but her inside draw tonight should be beneficial and she looms as a live chance again. The daughter of Dyna Villa produced a huge performance to win at the track and distance two runs back and her overall form from inside boxes is excellent. She just needs a bit of luck in transit to be in the finish once more.

Albion Park: Race 4 (4:57pm AEDT)
No. 1 Shield Me

Shield Me has been in fantastic order this time and strikes another very winnable one at Albion Park this afternoon. His dominant win at Ipswich three starts back was followed up with a rare lacklustre showing at this track and distance, but he responded with another easy win here last time out and is rock-hard fit for this assignment. Shield Me will make all his own luck from Box 1 and looks tough to beat.

best bet
Ballarat: Race 6 (8:40pm AEDT)
No. 8 Speed Star

Speed Star has been just that for Anakie-based trainer Andrea Dailly and will be extremely tough to beat in the sixth at Ballarat tonight. Thirteen wins and twelve minors from only thirty starts is how the ledger reads for the talented son of Fernando Bale so far and his form this time has been typically outstanding. He was luckless in running and checked at this track and distance last time out and with even luck, can atone.

each way
Ballarat: Race 8 (9:19pm AEDT)
No. 3 Blocker Tifia

Blocker Tifia has been a consistent performer throughout his racing career and is good enough to win a race of this calibre, at a nice price. The three-year-old ran on well to finish third after being caught behind early traffic at Healesville two starts back and was last seen flashing home to win over 520m at Sale. A repeat of that effort would find him very hard to beat again.

each way
Gosford: Race 4 (7:58pm AEDT)
No. 8 Miss Petite

Miss Petite doesn’t win out of turn, but she’s recorded several pleasing results this time and looks well placed in the fourth at Gosford tonight. The two-year-old daughter of Spring Gun lined up in tough company and was caught behind a wall of traffic at this track and distance last time out, but she has continued to finish off her races well and with appropriate luck tonight, can be fighting out the finish at a nice price.

Gosford: Race 5 (8:20pm AEDT)
No. 5 Lady Cynthia

Lady Cynthia has been airborne this time and will take a power of beating again in the fifth at Gosford tonight. The one-year-old has won each of her last seven starts and has strung together an impressive career record of ten wins and two minors from only sixteen starts. This does look to be her toughest test in a little while, but she has the runs on the board and with even luck, should be winning.

Gosford: Race 8 (9:22pm AEDT)
No. 3 Volt To Excel

Volt To Excel has produced several well rated performances this time and can return to winning form in the eighth at Gosford tonight. The three-year-old returned from a spell in excellent condition in December and easily won a 400m dash at Richmond, before another decent run to finish third over the same distance, but in tougher company. I like that her runs have been spaced and this looks another very winnable race.

Gosford: Race 9 (9:41pm AEDT)
No. 5 Werina Magic

Werina Magic is seeking a fourth-consecutive win when he takes his place in the ninth at Gosford tonight and will be tough to beat. Werina Magic did take a few starts to shake off the cobwebs when resuming in December, but his three most-recent runs have been outstanding, and he has not looked like losing.

Daily Dogs – Friday, February 15

Healesville: Race 5 (12:32pm AEDT)
No. 4 Goodbye Goldie

Goodbye Goldie has great form down the Healesville straight and looms as the one to beat in the fifth today. The son of Barcia Bale stormed home to score with ease here three starts back before a couple of decent efforts under the same conditions, to finish on the heels of the winner. His form from central boxes tends to be better and he is primed for a return to winning form.

Gawler: Race 4 (1:23pm AEDT)
No. 6 Flying Double

Flying Double will carry winning form into the fourth at Gawler this afternoon and looks the one to beat again. The son of Dyna Double One has continued to improve with racing since breaking his maiden on debut last month and his last start, near eight-length win at this track and distance really suggested that he’s in for a big preparation.

Geelong: Race 9 (9:48pm AEDT)
No. 8 Crackerjack Jase

Crackerjack Jase was an impressive last-start winner and looks well placed to make it two-in-a-row at Geelong tonight. The two-year-old has recorded two wins and six minors through his ten starts since debuting in November and came on strongly to finish over his rivals over 450m at Ballarat last time out. He’s really starting to tune his craft and with even luck from the wide box, will be hard to hold out.

Daily Dogs – Thursday, February 14

Sandown Park: Race 4 (8:07pm AEDT)
No. 1 Soda Flash

Soda Flash is the class runner in the fourth at Sandown Park tonight and is drawn to receive all the favours from Box 1. The talented son of Kinloch Brae was a dominant winner at The Meadows three runs back, but his two most-recent efforts have been luckless, and he takes a pretty noticeable step back in class into this field. He’ll make all his own luck on pace and will be extremely difficult to run down.

each way
Sandown Park: Race 9 (9:49pm AEDT)
No. 7 Splinter

Splinter is a dog with plenty of ability and with a clear passage from box 7 tonight, can fight out the finish of the ninth at Sandown Park at a nice price. Splinter was bumped early and was unable to recover over 600m at The Meadows two runs back, but he responded with an impressive performance and win over 545m at Ballarat last time out and a repeat of that performance would see him hard to beat again.

Sandown Park: Race 10 (10:08pm AEDT)
No. 3 Diego Fernando

Diego Fernando will need to be at his best to beat this handy field but looks to have been building towards something and has the ability to win at Sandown Park tonight. The two-year-old flew home to finish second at this track and distance three starts back and his two most-recent performances for third, also under these conditions, have been full of merit.

Sandown Park: Race 12 (10:52pm AEDT)
No. 3 Blistering

Blistering will take winning form into his appearance at Sandown Park tonight and looks well placed to take out the last. The son of Black Magic Opal worked home well to finish second two and three starts back before recording an impressive and comfortable win over 520m at Sale last time out. If he steps well, he should prove too good for the rest of this field.

Daily Dogs – Wednesday, February 13

Albion Park: Race 6 (5:34pm AEDT)
No. 4 Opal Beach

Opal Beach has been airborne this time and will be hard to beat in the sixth at Albion Park this afternoon. The son of Black Magic Opal has shown a clear affiliation with the 395m course here at Albion Park and has won under the conditions at his three most-recent starts, including a near six-length win last time out. His form from central boxes is good and he’s rock-hard fit.

Wentworth Park: Race 5 (8:24pm AEDT)
No. 1 Violet Road

Violet Road will carry winning form into the fifth at Wentworth Park tonight and is well placed to make it two-in-a-row. The daughter of Fernando Bale stamped herself as a talent when she debuted for second at Dapto late last month, before breaking her maiden in style at this track and distance last week. She’ll only improve from that effort and will make all her own luck from box 1.

each way
Ballarat: Race 7 (8:58pm AEDT)
No. 2 Laile Brobio

Laile Brobio flew home to finish a close-up second at this track and distance last time out and looms as a big threat again tonight, at odds. The three-year-old won her first start for Brooke Berry last month and has continued to race well, despite running into interference on several occasions. An inside box is ideal tonight and with even luck, she can be right in the finish.

Daily Dogs – Thursday, February 7

Sandown Park: Race 1 (7:07pm AEDT)
No. 3 By Your Side

By Your Side harbours an impressive turn of foot and will enjoy a step back in class into the first at Sandown Park tonight. The daughter of Magic Sprite stormed home to record an impressive victory at Warragul two starts back before running on well again to finish fourth at Geelong last time out, having run into early traffic. The rise in trip tonight looks ideal and she’ll be tough to hold out.

each way
Sandown Park: Race 5 (8:25pm AEDT)
No. 3 Kinloch Moss

Kinloch Moss has been racing in tough races this time and if he steps quickly from Box 3 tonight, he’ll be hard to run down. The two-year-old ran in Group 1 race last month and his two efforts since have been fair, though largely luckless. He does face another reasonably stern task in this company but has plenty of appeal at genuine each-way odds ($8.50 at publish).

Sandown Park: Race 8 (9:25pm AEDT)
No. 8 Lagoon Rhett

Lagoon Rhett is seeking a hattrick of wins when he steps out in the eighth at Sandown Park tonight and strikes another very winnable one. The three-year-old is arguably in career-best form and his win at this track and distance was extremely bullish. He saluted for us last week and I am happy to continue riding his impressive run of form.

Sandown Park: Race 12 (10:52pm AEDT)
No. 8 Rapid Road

Rapid Road has been airborne this time in and strikes another very winnable race at Sandown Park tonight. A son of the legendary Fernando Bale, Rapid Road has not finished worse than second through his five most-recent starts and was a dominant winner at Warragul and Sale before running second in a tougher race at this track and distance last time out. Bad luck looks his only real danger.

Daily Dogs – Wednesday, February 5

each way
Richmond: Race 8 (5:49pm AEDT)
No. 8 Hifalutin

Hifalutin did not show his best form at Goulburn last time out, but his performances prior to that run were good and if he can recapture any of what has showed, is good enough to fight out the finish of this race at Richmond this afternoon. The son of El Grand Senor hit the line well to finish second in a pair of Richmond races since late December and his wide draw tonight should be beneficial as he can stay away from early drama.

Richmond: Race 9 (6:07pm AEDT)
No. 4 Splinters

Splinters will enjoy what looks a nice step back in class into the ninth at Richmond this evening and will be hard to beat. The son of Spring Gun was a dominant winner at double-figure odds three starts back and his two most-recent efforts at tougher grades have been fair. The central box is fine in this small field and he’ll be tough to hold out in the dying stages of the race.

Wentworth Park: Race 8 (9:26pm AEDT)
No. 8 Tornado Time

Tornado Time has been airborne of late and will be tough to beat in the eighth at Wentworth Park tonight. Tornado Time strung together a couple of impressive wins two and three starts back before running a close-up second behind Two Times Twice over 603m at Gosford last time out. The form out of her races has been generally good and I’m happy to be with her again tonight, at a great price.

Daily Dogs – Tuesday, February 5

Capalaba: Race 2 (4:12pm AEDT)
No. 4 Velostar

The Capalaba straight is a new prospect for Velostar, but her performance to break her maiden at Ipswich last week was outstanding and a repeat of that effort would see her right in the finish again. The daughter of Dyna Double One clearly needed the run when she finished sixth of seven on debut, but she was dominant last start and with improvement, she’ll be hard to beat today.

Gosford: Race 5 (8:17pm AEDT)
No. 7 Whatta Lurker

Whatta Lurker is seeking a hattrick of wins when he takes his place in the fifth at Gosford tonight and looks well placed again. The two-year-old was outstanding throughout his last preparation and resumed from five months off with a credible run for second at this track and distance on New Year’s Day. His two most-recent efforts, both relatively easy wins have been excellent and he looks the one to beat again.

each way
Gosford: Race 10 (10:02pm AEDT)
No. 4 Nat's Wish

Nat’s Wish has been a strong and consistent performer recently and looks over the odds to win the last at Gosford tonight. An easy winner at Richmond four starts back, the son of Fernando Bale tracked home well to finish second at his next two appearances, before another good albeit luckless run for third last time out. This race is no harder and he’s worth consideration at an each-way quote.

Daily Dogs – Monday, February 4

best bet
Grafton: Race 1 (6:15pm AEDT)
No. 7 Rusty Trick

Rusty Trick is seeking a hattrick of wins and looks beautifully placed to complete the feat at Grafton this evening. The one-year-old has only finished outside of the places once in seven career starts and was last seen recording a thirteen-length win at Grade 5 level at this track and distance. A repeat of that effort would see him winning again.

Albion Park: Race 5 (8:47pm AEDT)
No. 3 Donna Rumble

Donna Rumble is yet to finish worse than second through her five career starts and will be tough to beat in the fifth at Albion Park tonight. The one-year-old looked to be crying out for more distance when she ran on for second over 395m here at Albion Park three starts back but has absolutely dominated her two most-recent starts and gets a nice increase in journey tonight. With even luck, she’ll be tough to hold out.

each way
Albion Park: Race 6 (9:08pm AEDT)
No. 5 Oblivinator

Oblivinator has been racing well recently and looks over the odds in betting for the sixth at Albion Park tonight. The daughter of Elite State worked home well to finish fourth over 395m here two starts back before another credible effort for third, finishing within a couple of lengths of the winner. The increase in trip looks ideal and with even luck, she can fight out the finish.

Daily Dogs – Thursday, January 31

Sandown Park: Race 1 (7:07pm AEDT)
No. 6 Never Duplicated

Never Duplicated was far from disgraced when she ran home well for second at this track and distance last week and with even luck, she’ll be tough to hold out tonight. The two-year-old daughter of KC And All was caught behind traffic early in running last week, but she produced an eye-catching kick when she was offered clear running and hit the line in pleasing fashion. She has form around some good dogs and is ready to win.

Sandown Park: Race 2 (7:25pm AEDT)
No. 1 She Will Bloom

This looks a two-dog race between She Will Bloom and Lagoon Rhett and I am happy to take on the favourite with the former. She Will Bloom has strung together four impressive victories heading into this race and she is set to get the gun run again tonight from Box 1. Lagoon Rhett meanwhile faces a drop in distance and will need to show plenty of early speed to overcome a potentially sticky draw.

each way
Sandown Park: Race 3 (7:43pm AEDT)
No. 5 Dyna Bonnay

Dyna Bonnay faces a step up in class in the third at Sandown tonight, but she has been racing extremely well and is over the odds at her current price. A daughter of the legendary Fernando Bale, Dyna Bonnay strolled in to win at this track and distance two starts back before repeating the dose and result last time out. This looks a pretty open field and with even luck, she can fight out the finish.

Sandown Park: Race 8 (9:28pm AEDT)
No. 2 Barooga Brett

Barooga Brett is a recent Group 1 winner and looks beautifully placed to return to winning form at Sandown Park tonight. The Silver Chief Final (525m) winner hasn’t had the best of luck at his two most-recent starts but faces a decent step back in class tonight and has his rivals covered on that front. With even luck, he looks the one to beat.
