Rugby Union’s popularity has somewhat faded in Australia through recent years, but it remains a time-honoured sport and will perpetually hold a place with the country’s and indeed the world’s die-hard sports fans.

The Super Rugby tournament has experienced several changes during its reasonably short existence, but the competition has expanded recently to include additional franchises based in Argentina and Japan and that progression does not appear to be slowing.

While there is also a selection of impressive provincial rugby tournaments held in the northern hemisphere, rugby is at its best and most tribal at International level and the World Cup, held every four years, is considered the absolute pinnacle of the sport. Closer to home, the Rugby Championship has been contested by bitter rivals Australia, New Zealand and South Africa for decades, while the addition of Argentina in 2014 led to all four nations making the semi-final stage of the 2015 World Cup.
