HEAD FOR HOME (3) has been given a nice little freshen-up off a disappointing performance when last over 450m at Warrnambool in early May. The son of Bernado has enough early speed to be competitive once lids fly, and he did win by a nice three length margin on debut earlier in the year.
MORE BEER PLEASE (4) looks ideally placed from the middle box. By Feral Franky, he’s been racing in a rich vein of form of late, going 3.5 lengths clear to win at Ballarat last week over a touch shorter. With good early speed in this race, he should be piling on the pressure out of the bend
WEBLEC MARQUISE (2) could be the one to stalk the speed and unleash a huge run over the late stages. We know her best is good enough, but we just haven’t seen it in two runs this time in work where she’s been well beaten on each occasion. Still, a seven-time winner over this trip with a 27.57 track/distance PB, she could be worth sticking with third-up.
PAW TONK (7) is one of the better bets on the program, having drawn another wide box. He’s done some of his best work from Box 7 in the past, and with a serious turn of foot, he should get back slightly in the run and finish over the top, just like he did two back at Sandown.
