No. 9 Sumundra
Sumundra is one of several runners to make her debut in this field and she lines up here off some very impressive jump out wins.
By star sire Snitzel, out of Moir Stakes winner Pippie, the regally bred filly has been seen in three Cranbourne jump outs and whilst she hasn’t won the heats by big margins, she’s done it in style and has shown improvement on each occasion.
Barrier three should see her afforded every chance under Ben Melham and the 1000m kick off looks ideal.

No. 1 Navy Pilot
Navy Pilot comes off a dominant win at Doomben and looks well placed to make it back to back successes.
The son of I Am Invincible had just had the two starts prior where he powered home to finish a close fifth on the Kensington before he was thrown in the deep end, contesting the Group One Sires Produce Stakes, where he was only beaten three lengths.
With a month since that latest run, he’s been kept up to the mark with a Doomben trial win and he draws to get the right run under Ryan Maloney.

No. 14 Nana’s Wish
Nana’s Wish didn’t have the best of luck when resuming over the 1511m at Sale but she strips fitter for the outing.
Settling in the box seat, the mare couldn’t get cleat until 200m out but she finished off nicely in the inferior part of the track.
She has performed well second up previously and looks nicely placed sticking at the 1500m journey.
She gets a senior rider aboard this time with Ben Melham to do the steering for Ciaron Maher with even luck off the wide gate, I think she’ll be right there at the finish.

No. 3 Simply Excels
Simply Excels has made it two wins from four runs this preparation and looks well placed to add to that tally.
The Tony Gollan trained son of Exceed And Excel was sent to the paddock after a very green debut effort and returned in fine order, saluting over this track and trip first up before recording back to back placings at Eagle Farm and Doomben.
He showed a good kick last time to get the job done when dropping back to 1200m at Doomben and I think he’ll be hard to beat again.
