CAVILL TYCOON (1) looks well-suited to 1100m first-up after competing over longer distances during his maiden preparation last year.

The lightly-raced son of Written Tycoon placed twice at Mildura and Benalla before finishing seven lengths behind the impressive Kiwi mare, Proved, at Moe to close out his prep.

His latest jump-out at Bendigo was strong, and with an inside draw, he’s positioned to get every opportunity in the run.

SANDWINA (10) will need a bit of luck from her wide draw but comes into this race in great shape.

The daughter of Trapeze Artist is rock-hard fit deep into her preparation, having last been seen charging home down the outside for second over a shorter trip at Echuca.

John Allen knows this mare well, and with a couple of recent runs over 1400m, she should be primed for the step up to the mile.

THINKING OF GERTY (6) looks a strong choice after her impressive first-up victory at Echuca last month.

She showed sharp acceleration, surging to the front in the final 200m and winning comfortably despite covering extra ground in transit.

There’s a fair question around whether she’s ready for more distance, but with a three-week freshen-up between runs, she should be primed for another big performance.

SHOCKLETZ (9) steps out here after a lengthy spell, having last competed in the Wakeful Stakes at Headquarters last November.

The filly by Shocking found that assignment a touch beyond her, but she showed her ability when winning impressively second-up over 1500m at Bendigo in a small field.

The key question is whether she’s looking for more ground, but on sheer class alone, she should have a clear edge over this field.
