The first of the Group One races for the Brisbane Winter Carnival will take place this Saturday, as the time honoured Doomben 10,000 is set to headline an exciting day of racing.
A capacity field will face the judge for the $1.5m feature, that has been won by some superstars of the turf, including Manikato, Falvelon, Takeover Taget, Apache Cat and most recently Bella Nipotina.
The nine race card will also include the running of five other black type races and we’ve done the form for you.
The track is currently a heavy 8 and with further showers on the way it’ll most liking stay in the heavy range.
See below for our complete Doomben 10,000 Day preview and tips!
Race 1: (11:48am AEST) XXXX BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP 1600M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 2 Victory Win
Victory Win just looked to peak on his run late last start when stepping out over 1800m off a five week freshen up.
The Annabel and Rob Archibald trained gelding proved too good at his prior start which was over this course and distance, and he looks well placed here with the drop back to the mile, as well as the slight drop back in grade.
A winner of four from six at Doomben, he loves it here and draws to get the run of the race under Jamie Mott.
Race 2: (12:23pm AEST) THE STAR BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1350M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 2 Deep Respect
Deep Respect kicked off his preparation with a very encouraging effort to finish second at Eagle Farm two weeks ago and I think he can go one better this time.
Beaten by only the barest of margins, the Deep Field gelding extended strongly over the final part but was just denied on the line by the race-fit Ser Joh.
He showed good ability early on and was thrown in the deep end, contesting stakes races but didn’t have a lot go his way.
He’s come back in good order, and he excels at Doomben having won all of his races here.
The rise to 1350m suits and if he handles the conditions, I think he’ll prove too good for them.
Race 3: (12:58pm AEST) IMPRESSU QTIS 3YO PLATE 1350M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Pisces
Pisces has finished off strongly at his past two starts and he looks to have found a winnable race.
The Godolphin galloper got a long way back off the wide draw in the Daybreak Lover, but worked home well over the final part and it was similar story last time in the Hawkesbury Guineas.
Winner of the Group Three Blue Sapphire last preparation under the guidance of James McDonald, he’s proven himself a class galloper and boasts solid form around him.
McDonald goes back aboard, and the low draw can see him settle within striking distance.
Race 4: (1:33pm AEST) SKY RACING BERNBOROUGH HANDICAP LISTED 1600M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 2 Al Mubhir
Al Mubhir comes off a very encouraging run over 1500m at Randwick and there’s a lot to like about him here.
Always wide and without cover for much of the trip, he still found the line well to finish third.
Formally trained by William Haggas, the UK galloper was transferred to the Archibald yard after two failed runs at Group One level and he certainly appreciated the drop back in grade last time.
He looks well suited here with the slight rise in trip and he has performed well on wet tracks.
Barrier two will see him afforded a kinder run in transit and he gets the services of James McDonald.
Race 5: (2:08pm AEST) SEVEN SPIRIT OF BOOM CLASSIC GROUP 2 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 8 Beskar
Beskar was a dominant winner on debut at Geelong back in December and given a break, he returned with strong effort to finish third in the Kindergarten Stakes last month.
After settling in the ‘one – one’ spot, the colt found himself in a bumping dual in the early part of the straight but fought gamely to the line to hold third.
He’s since trialled and I think he’ll be well suited here at 1200m in the 2025 Spirit Of Boom Classic.
A son of Snitzel, the wet track shouldn’t worry him, and he draws to get the right run under Mark Zahra.
Race 6: (2:43pm AEST) JRA CHAIRMAN'S HANDICAP GROUP 3 2000M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Sir Delius
Sir Delius will make his first raceday appearance on Australian soil and he looks ready to go off two solid trial wins.
Only lightly raced, the French import has made a big impression in his six race starts, winning his first three races before finishing third at Group One level.
A genuine stayer, the 2000m looks ideal for this first up assignment and he’ll be suited in the conditions.
Given two 1200m Randwick trials, he’s been strong through the line on each occasion, and I think he’ll be hard to run down under Tim Clark.
Race 7: (3:22pm AEST) MAGIC MILLIONS BRIGHT SHADOW F&M LISTED 1110M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 2 In Flight
In Flight has been the runner up in both run back this time in and she looks nicely placed back against her own sex.
The Joe Pride trained mare has put together a tidy record, having only missed a top four place on two occasions and she excels on wet tracks.
She put together three straight wins last winter, beating some very handy gallopers and she did carry 60kgs to victory at Randwick, so I don’t expect the rise in the weights to hinder her.
Barrier two should see her afforded all the favours and Jason Collett.
Race 8: (4:02pm AEST) LADBROKES DOOMBEN 10,000 WFA GROUP 1 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 12 Sunshine In Paris
Sunshine In Paris hasn’t been far away in all three runs this campaign and I think she’s the one beat here with the blinkers going on for the first time.
The Annabel and Rob Archibald trained mare didn’t have the best of luck when resuming on the Canterbury Stakes and she finished off strongly after getting well back in the TJ Smith Stakes.
She was solid to the line last start when finishing third in the All Aged behind Jimmystar and Joliestar and I feel those are right formlines to follow for this race.
A dual Group One winner, she’s a high-class galloper and handles all conditions.
James McDonald has partnered her on just one occasion, that was in the Champions Sprint back in November where she was victorious, and he goes back aboard hoping to maintain a perfect record on the mare.
Race 9: (4:38pm AEST) HKJC WORLD POOL ROUGH HABIT PLATE 3YO SW GROUP 3 2000M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 14 Belle Detelle
Belle Detelle comes off a five week freshen up after a solid effort to finish only 2.6 lengths off Treasurethe Moment in the ATC Oaks.
The Chris Waller trained filly recorded a deserved maiden win on the Hillside back in February before making the leap to stakes level, where she proved too good in the Group 3 Adrian Knox.
She’s a smart filly on the way up and she looks ideally placed here back to 2000m in the Rough Habit.
The draw shouldn’t prove too much of an issue as she’ll get back and she does get James McDonald in the saddle.
