The Valley Tips & Preview – Saturday, April 26
Elouyou is well placed to go back-to-back at The Valley.

The Valley Tips & Preview – Saturday, April 26

Racing returns to The Valley for the first time in a month this Saturday where nine races are scheduled to be run and won.

The rail is out 4m the entire course and although the track has undergone some remedial work to eradicate a grass disease that affected the state of the track on William Reid Stakes Day, the weather is not favourable with heavy rain forecast.

I’ve put in the hard work, so you don’t have to and provided my tips in each race for The Valley.

Race 1 (12:20PM AEST): Evergreen Turf Handicap (1000 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 4 Saluted

J: Jye McNeil (57kg) T: Robbie Griffiths

Saluted (4) created an impression by winning back-to-back jump outs by big margins and took that form to the track for her debut.

The Robbie Griffiths-trained filly jumped straight to the front over 1100m at Pakenham last start and proved too strong in the run home, winning by 1.3 lengths.

She’ll be better for the experience and will strip fitter second-up.

She’s drawn the outside gate in the small field but has the early speed to cross and lead.

Race 2 (12:55PM AEST): Manhari Handicap (1200 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 4 Elouyou

J: Fred W Kersley (58.5kg) T: Scott Cameron

Elouyou (4) was excellent when winning over this course and distance last start.

The son of So You Think went to the front and was never headed, dashing clear upon straightening to win by a length.

Given that was a month ago, he’s gone back to the trials where he produced a nice piece of work to finish a close third to Johnny Rocker.

Fred Kersley is undefeated in two rides on him and should drive forward to lead.

Race 3 (1:30PM AEST): Western General Bodyworks Handicap (1200 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Each Way

No. 5 Zebella

J: Joe Bowditch (58.5kg) T: Phillip Stokes

Zebella (5) ran a brave race last start when resuming over 1000m at Morphettville and can improve second-up.

The Phillip Stokes-trained grey mare was never on the track, racing three and four wide, but still found the line strongly to finish 1.7 lengths fifth.

She’ll appreciate the rise in distance with increased fitness second-up.

Joe Bowditch can stalk the speed.

Race 4 (2:05PM AEST): FRS FIRE Services Handicap (1000 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 3 New York Lustre

J: Carleen Hefel (59.5kg) T: Enver Jusufovic

New York Lustre (3) returns to the races for the first time since winning narrowly over 1200m on the Hillside track 11 weeks ago.

The Enver Jusufovic-trained mare had an excellent last preparation where she went undefeated in three starts, bolting in by 5.3 lengths at Seymour first-up when nearly breaking the track record before easily winning over 1000m at Flemington.

She’s warmed up for this first-up assignment with two jump outs where she looked in super order.

Carleen Hefel can lead or box seat from the good barrier.

Race 5 (2:40PM AEST): Ladbrokes Form Genius Handicap (1519 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 2 Nicolini Vito

J: Patrick Moloney (60kg) T: Ben, Will & Jd Hayes

Nicolini Vito (2) was nothing short of outstanding when winning the G3 Victoria Handicap at Caulfield last start.

The Team Hayes-trained gelding stormed home through the ruck to win by a nose.

She’ll strip fitter third-up and is a previous winner at the track.

There doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in the race which could see Patrick Moloney settle closer in the run.

Race 6 (3:15PM AEST): Symal Handicap (1200 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Each Way

No. 5 Ravalli

J: Patrick Moloney (61kg) T: Tim Fitzsimmons

Ravalli (5) returns to Australia after spending the past two years in Singapore.

The Tim Fitzsimmons-trained gelding brings good form with him having won three and placing second twice from six starts all over this distance.

He’s had three jump outs/trials this time in work and has produced pleasing pieces of work each time with two jump outs resulting in wins.

He maps to get a great run on speed.

Race 7 (3:55PM AEST): Revert Group Handicap (1200 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Each Way

No. 6 Grinzinger Sun

J: Liam Riordan (54kg) T: Danny O'Brien

Grinzinger Sun (6) has come back this preparation in great form with back-to-back wins.

The Danny O’Brien-trained filly sat outside the lead first-up over 1100m at Bendigo before dashing clear in the final furlong to win by 2.5 lengths.

She then enjoyed a nice run just behind the leaders at Geelong before letting down powerfully despite receiving a decent bump to win by a length.

She’ll strip fitter third-up, will appreciate the weight drop and should settle handy.

Race 8 (4:30PM AEST): Dynamic Print Group Handicap (2040 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Each Way

No. 2 Denmark

J: Beau Mertens (58.5kg) T: Chris Waller

Denmark (2) loomed with something to offer over 2000m at Caulfield last start but was held up at a key stage and then tired in the final 100m to finish 2.1 lengths fifth.

The Chris Waller-trained son of Camelot will have taken great benefit from the run given he was jumping from 1500m and was only second-up.

Last preparation, his first in Australia, he fought gamely third-up to finish 1.1 lengths fourth over this course and distance.

With a touch of luck from the wide barrier, he can figure in the finish.

Race 9 (5:10PM AEST): Manhari Recycling Handicap (1600 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Each Way Market Mover

No. 8 Waimarie

J: Daniel Moor (58.5kg) T: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young

Waimarie (8) returned in great order on Bendigo Cup Day with a close second.

The Busuttin & Young-trained mare settled handy and let down strongly to find the front but was swamped right on the line to go down by a nose.

She’ll strip fitter second-up and was a winner over this course and distance in this class last preparation.

Daniel Moor will roll forward and looks the likely leader.
