With the Sydney Autumn Carnival done and dusted, we’re back to regular programming this weekend at Randwick.
Ten races will be run and won and whilst there’s no black-type features, there is still plenty of value to be found.
With plenty of rain of the way, we’re likely to be racing on a heavy surface but we’ve done the form and provided our detailed Randwick Saturday selections below.
Race 1: (11:30pm AEST) ATC BOOKMAKERS RECOGNITION DAY HANDICAP 2YO 1100M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Beskar
Beskar was a dominant winner on debut at Geelong back in December and given a break, he returned with a strong effort to finish third in the Kindergarten Stakes three weeks ago.
Settling in the ‘one out, one back’ position, the son of Snitzel found himself in a bumping dual in the early part of the straight but fought gamely to the line to hold third.
He strips for that run and draws to receive all the favours under James McDonald.
Race 2: (12:05pm AEST) MIDWAY HANDICAP BM72 1100M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 3 Photographics
Photographics has been racing well and comes off a six week freshen up.
The Per Incanto filly let down strongly to win well over 1000m here three runs back and at her following outing, over 1100, she was left out in front at the top of the straight and was just collared late.
Back to 1000m last time at Wyong, she settled in behind the leader and despite being niggled along to stay in touch, she again finished off strongly but just found one better on the day.
She looks very progressive and was impressive winning a trial here last week.
Mollie Burke jumps back aboard, she’ll take 1.5kgs off and barrier four can see her settle in behind the leaders and pounce late.
Race 3: (12:40pm AEST) TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP CLASS 3 1000M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Massira
Massira just keeps finding one better, but he looks well placed here to find the winner’s stall.
The former Godolphin galloper won well at Kembla Grange when resuming for new trainer Matthew Dale and he has been the runner up in three subsequent runs, all of which have been at metro level.
His most recent outing was over this course and distance, where off the outside draw and under the 61.5kg impost, he covered plenty of ground and still charged home late.
He draws to get a kinder run in transit and Braith Knock will do the steering and take 2kgs off.
Race 4: (1:15pm AEST) JEFF PENDLEBURY HANDICAP BM78 1000M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 6 Passeggiata
Passeggiata returns to the races.
The speedy mare failed to produce her best last preparation, she was well beaten on a couple of occasions, but the team look to have her back to her best following two very impressive trial wins.
She does boast a terrific first up record and kicking off over the 1000m looks ideal.
Rachel King knows how to get the best out of her and with the advantage of the inside draw, I think she’ll prove too slick for them.
Race 5: (1:50pm AEST) TOM BINGLE HANDICAP 1800M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 3 Saganti
Sagnanti was beaten only a nose when resuming over the mile at Hawkesbury and he will have taken plenty of benefit from the run.
Having just his second start on Australian soil, the former French galloper travelled beautifully just off the speed and took a while to wind up before hitting the line strongly over the final stages.
From ten career starts he’s been stakes placed on three occasions, so he’s not short of talent and he’s sure to relish the rise to 1800m.
Race 5: (2:25pm AEST) TERRY MARSKELL HANDICAP BM78 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 6 Step Aside
Step Aside returns to the races off a short break and the Chris Waller trained gelding does race particularly well fresh.
Things went pear-shaped for him when resuming last campaign when he was put through the rail, he lost the rider and took no further part.
Thankfully, he was unhurt and after finishing third at his following outing, he returned to the winner’s stall at Rosehill two starts later.
The son of Redwood has put together a solid record is all always thereabouts.
Just given an easy time of things in a recent trial, he was strong through the line, he looks ready to go, and James McDonald will take the reins.
Race 7: (3:00pm AEST) NEVILLE WATERS HANDICAP BM78 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Memoria
Memoria is ultra consistent and she lines up here on the fresh side with a month since her most recent run.
She tied for first when resuming over 1100m at Canterbury and has been placed in her three subsequent outings.
The Kris Less trained mare looked sharp in a recent trial and I think the rise to 1200m is just what she’s looking for.
Ben Osmond knows her well, he’ll take 2kgs off and she’ll love getting back onto a track with plenty of give.
Race 8: (3:35pm AEST) PRECISE AIR HANDICAP 1500M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 10 Wootton Verni
Wootton Verni is the interesting runner here as he makes his Australian debut.
The French import has recorded five wins from just his eight starts and is already a Group 3 winner.
A son of Wootton Basset, his best runs have been at 1800m plus, however the way he found the line in a recent Warwick Farm trials suggests the 1500m first up will suit.
He’s proven in all conditions and gets the services of James McDonald, who guided him in the trial and stays aboard for Chris Waller.
Race 9: (4:15pm AEST) NSW BOOKMAKERS CO-OP HANDICAP BM72 1400
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Sydney Bowler
Sydney Bowler made a flying start to his career, saluting at his first three appearances but not much has gone right for him this time in.
He was held up in the early part of the straight when resuming at Canterbury but worked home strongly once clear.
The Deep Field gelding then headed to Wyong where he failed to finish off but as found to have pulled up with heat stress and it was a similar story again last time at Hawkesbury.
There’s no doubting his ability so I’m happy to stick with him, the slight to 1400m looks ideal and he gets in nicely here with the claim for Zad Wadick
Race 10: (4:50pm AEST) TAB HANDICAP BM78 1600M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Know Thyself
Know Thyself comes off a big win in the Country Championships Final and I think he’ll be hard only beat again.
Only lightly raced, having had the eight starts, the four-year-old has worked through his grades with relative ease and I think he’s set for bigger and better things.
He was always wide last start over the1400m but had cover and when presented into the clear, he pinned his ears back and fought strongly to get the bob in on the line.
He looks well suited stepping out to the mile and whilst he does have to carry the 62kgs, I think class will carry him a long way.
