Despite being lightly raced for a five-year-old, he showed promise last start at Pakenham, finishing a respectable third behind Stealth Of Night—a result bolstered by that runner’s subsequent win.

With a four-week break keeping him fresh and a fitness edge over many of his rivals, he just needs Ben Melham to navigate the wide draw early to be a genuine contender.

LEADERBOARD (2) arrives in top form, chasing a hat-trick following dominant victories at Ballarat and Pakenham, where he won by a combined margin of nine lengths.

The veteran by Street Cry boasts a strong record at the ‘Bool, including a win and a placing, and the drop back in distance should pose no challenge after his commanding performance over 4000m last start.

With peak fitness, two outstanding wins to his name, and Will Gordon shedding 2.5kg in the saddle, he’s undeniably the one to beat.

ROLLS (1) carries 1.5kg less thanks to the claim and remains a consistent performer at eight years old.

The veteran by Anacheeva impressed connections with a win at The Valley last spring and a strong showing in a Stakes race at Morphettville recently. Despite being beaten by just under 2.5 lengths over a shorter trip, he finished powerfully, making up ground in the closing stages.

With a proven second-up record and a knack for handling wet tracks, he’s a genuine contender in what looks to be an open race.
