Daily Racing Tips – Thursday, April 24

BENDIGO: Race 3 (2:30pm AEST)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 1 Black Storm

J: Harry Coffey (62kg) T: Tim Fitzsimmons

Black Storm was stiff not to have won when resuming over 1350m at Donald and he will have taken good improvement from the outing.

Having his first start on Australian soil, the former Singapore galloper was traveling sweetly behind the leaders but ran into a dead end at the top of straight and picked up strongly to finish second.

Having not raced for almost a year, he’ll be better for the run and the rise to the mile will certainly suit.

PAKENHAM: Race 2 (5:45pm AEST)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 5 Egerton

J: Patrick Moloney (57.5kg) T: Cliff Brown

Egerton has been the runner up in all three starts and she looks well placed to go one better.

Beaten only a neck on debut over 1000m by Lunar Module, who went on to win three of her next four, the Cliff Brown trained mare then just looked to peak on her next two starts which were both over 1200m.

Sent for break she resumes here off two very pleasing jump outs wins and the 1000m kick off looks ideal.

PAKENHAM: Race 3 (6:15pm AEST)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 8 Oceanella

J: Jordan Childs (57kg) T: Simon Zahra

Oceanella kicked off her career with a very encouraging effort on the Hillside and she was unlucky not hot to have won.

Making her debut over 1200m, the Simon Zahra trained filly settled back at the tail and was held up at a vital stage but once clear, she hit the line well to get within half a length of the eventual winner.

The rise to 1400m looks ideal for this daughter of Ocean Park and the inside draw should see her settle closer in the run.

PAKENHAM: Race 6 (7:45pm AEST)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 4 Zunna

J: Daniel Stackhouse (57kg) T: Phillip Stokes

Zunna could not have been more impressive when winning on debut and she looks to have a bright future ahead.

Stepping out over the 1200m at Pakenham, the daughter of Zoustar settled back in the field and when brought to the outside at the top of the straight, she showed a good turn of foot to round them up and extended strongly over the final part to pull away and score by two lengths.

She’ll be better for the experience and I think she’ll be hard to beat again.
