Just the two games to pick from on Tuesday, with the Battle of the Florida and Game 5 scheduled between the Avs and Stars. Our on-ice hockey expert, Ryan Cook, provides his thoughts and tips in our Daily NHL best bets!
Game 4 – FLA Leads 2-1
The Bolts made it a series on Saturday with a 5-1 win at home, although it was hardly a convincing performance on the stat sheet.
Tampa Bay was outshot 34-22 whilst finishing 0/5 on the power play in a game that was largely a two-man show between centres Jake Guentzel and Brayden Point.
As the market suggests, backing either of these two sides is tough H2H, but with the two names just mentioned racking up a combined nine shots in Game 3, I think there’s a play to be made on their shots total in this one.
Game 5 – Series Tied 2-2
A 4-0 shutout on Sunday has gifted the Avs some serious momentum back on the road in Dallas for Game 5.
Gabriel Landeskog scoring his first goal in nearly three years was a huge moment for the fans and the franchise, while the Avs have to feel great about their penalty kill after holding the Stars scoreless through five opportunities on the power play.
Low-scoring games have been the theme of this series so far with three of the four falling Under the Total, and I think the screws will really start to tighten defensively with Game 5 often being the decider in these back-and-forth series.
On one hand, the Avs registered 48 shots on net in Game 4, but with the Stars being a reliable bounce-back bet, I think the script might flip with home ice.
