The Championships may be over for another year but there’s still plenty of action ahead at Randwick this Saturday, with not one, but two group One events to star on the All Aged Stakes Day card.
The feature event on the program is the time-honoured All Aged Stakes to be run over 1400m and prior to that, we’ll see the two-year-olds will take their place in the $1m Champagne Stakes.
Fine weather is forecast for the day, and the track is likely stay in the soft range.
We’ve taken a close look at each event, and you can find our detailed Randwick Saturday racing selections below.
Race 1: (11:25pm AEST) MIDWAY HANDICAP BM72 1400M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 4 Prince Of Sorts
Prince of Sorts is building a nice record I think he’ll continue to rise through the grades.
He pulled up with a slow recovery after contesting the Provincial Championships Qualifier at Kembla Grange two starts back but bounced with a strong win over 1400m at Hawkesbury.
Taking up the lead, he always had company but dug deep to hold out the challengers.
A three-time winner over this trip, the son of Tassort looks ideally placed and draws to get the right run under Ash Morgan.
Race 2: (12:00pm AEST) TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP CLASS 3 1400M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Villasaurus
Villasaurus has the job ahead with the big weight and the wide gate, but I think he’s got the class to get it done.
Prepared at Albury by Donna Scott, the four-year-old has put together a tidy record and he was dominant when winning over this track and trip back in November.
He resumed at the beginning of last month in the Championships Qualifier at Wagga and it was a solid effort to finish third after enduring a wide run throughout.
He comes here on the fresh side and looked sharp as he charged home late in a recent trial.
The blinkers come off which will hopefully see him relax and find a spot in behind them and with even luck, I think he’ll be too good for them.
Race 3: (12:40pm AEST) TOYOTA FORKLIFTS FRANK PACKER PLATE 3YO SW GROUP 3 2000M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Swiftfalcon
Swiftfalcon was doing his best work late last start over the mile in the Carbine Club Stakes, and he’ll relish getting back out to this trip in the Frank Packer Plate.
Prepared by team Hawkes, the son of Exceedance has continued to perform well at a high level and was placed in both the Randwick Guineas and Rosehill Guineas prior to his latest outing.
He gets in very well under the set weight conditions, he loves it here at Randwick and gate seven will allow him to settle back in the field with plenty of room, and he’s sure to be powering home late.
Race 4: (1:15pm AEST) MOSTYNCOPPER JAMES H B CARR STAKES 3YO FILLIES GROUP 3 1400M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 2 Zeitung
Zeitung didn’t have the best of luck last time in the P J Bell, but she’s well suited here out to 1400m and looks ready to peak at her third run back.
Held up in the early part of the straight, she didn’t have the clearest passage through but still worked home strongly to finish on the heels of the placegetters.
The Godolphin filly has shown good improvement with each preparation, and she recorded her first stakes win in the Spring when taking out The Vanity.
She has performed very well at both runs over the 1400m and with clear air, she’ll be right in the thick of things late.
Race 5: ( 1:50pm AEST) CATANACH'S JEWELLERS HANDICAP BM88 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 7 Moby Dick
Moby Dick failed to fire when resuming on a very questionable surface at Moonee Valley, but he will have taken good fitness benefit from the run.
The Toronado gelding scored a brilliant win when resuming last campaign, storming home late to beat a hot field.
He didn’t have the best of luck in subsequent runs but continued to race well against quality opposition.
He has won second up previously, and I think he’ll enjoy getting out onto the big Randwick track.
Chad Schofield will do the steering for the Price / Kent team and he’s sure to doing his best work late.
Race 6: (2:25pm AEST) MYPLATES JRA PLATE QUALITY GROUP 3 2000M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 3 Encap
Encap has been the eye catcher at his past two starts and he steps out to 2000m for the first time in the JRA Plate.
Whilst his breeding suggests he’d be better suited over the shorter trips, the way he’s been finishing off tells a different story.
A son of Golden Slipper winner Capitalist, the four-year-old settled back at the tail in the Doncaster Prelude and was a mile off them at the 600m mark but charged home late into fourth. He then contested the Doncaster where he settled just worse than midfield and burst through late to claim third, beaten a long neck.
He’s only won the two from twenty-one but he’s continued to race well at a high level and if he can stretch out this trip, I think he’ll see the winner’s stall again.
Race 7: (3:00pm AEST) MOET & CHANDON CHAMPAGNE STAKES 2YO SW GROUP 1 1600M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 2 Nepotism
Nepotism comes off an impressive last start victory in the Baillieu and I think he can go on with it.
Settling back in the field, he had to wait until the gaps appeared but shot clear over the final part to win easily.
There was a lot to like about his debut performance in the Todman, where and didn’t have a lot of room in the straight but still finished off strongly into third behind Tentyris and subsequent Golden Slipper runner up Wodeton.
The way he worked through the line last time suggests he’ll relish the rise to 1600m and if he can find cover early off the wide gate, I think he’ll be too strong for them late.
Race 8: (3:40pm AEST) SCHWEPPES ALL AGED STAKES WFA GROUP 1 1400M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 4 Jimmysstar
Jimmysstar has been the eye catcher at his past two starts and he’s sure to appreciate the rise to 1400m.
Brilliant on his return when taking out the Oakleigh Plate, he then stepped out in the Willaim Reid where he was tailed off midrace and under heavy pressure but picked up strongly upon straightening and charged home late into third.
At his latest outing, the T J Smith, the Ciaron Maher trained gelding blew the start which saw him settle back at the tail and once into the clear 300m from home, he powered down the outside to claim fourth, just missing third place.
Ethan Brown knows him well, he stays aboard and with the extra distance he’ll be hard to hold out.
Race 9: (4:20pm AEST) TAB HALL STAKES GROUP 3 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Jedibeel
Jedibeel hasn’t had the best of luck at his two recent runs and he’s sure to appreciate the drop back in grade in the Hall Mark Stakes.
A decisive winner when resuming on the Challenge Stakes, the Savabeel gelding then contested The Galaxy where he got a long way back and found trouble in the early part of the straight.
He was always wide last time in the T J Smith but finished off strongly to be beaten just over two lengths.
He’s fit, he should find this easier, and Craig Williams stays aboard.
Race 10: (4:55pm AEST) 4 PINES PACE SETTERS HANDICAP BM100 1400M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 11 Townsend
Townsend returns to the races.
The Waterhouse / Bott trained galloper has put together a very tidy record and he returned in fine order last preparation after a lengthy stint on the sidelines.
He showed plenty of promise early on, scoring on debut before placing in both the Fernhill and Champagne Stakes.
He just felt the pinch late when resuming over the mile last time but proved superior second up.
The 1400m kick off looks ideal for this son of Dundeel and Rachel King knows how to get the best out of him.
