Tancred Stakes Day features a ten-race program at Rosehill Gardens this Tuesday headlined by the meeting’s namesake, the Tancred Stakes. Run over 2000m, the Group One feature is one of eight stakes races set to be run and won following Saturday’s postponement.
With a purse of $1.5m, the weight for age event has attracted a quality line-up, including international raiders Dubai Honour along with the ultra-consistent Kiwi mare La Crique and last start winner and current Melbourne Cup favourite, Vauban.
We’ve had a thorough look through each race on the Tancred card and have provided our detailed sections below.
Race 1: (12:35pm AEDT) MIDWAY HANDICAP BM72 1300M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Mahogany Girl
Mahogany Girl made it back to back victories when taking out the Provincial Midway Championship Qualifier at Hawkesbury last start and I think she can continue on her winning way.
The six year old mare has put together an impressive record since returning to the track in September last year, recording four wins and three placings from just eight starts.
She’s unbeaten in two appearances over 1300m and gate six should see her afforded every chance under regular rider Chad Lever.
The only real concern is the big weight but she did salute comfortably under 60kgs when resuming although this is tougher, I feel she has a touch of class about her.
Race 2: (1:10pm AEDT) ROSEHILL BOWLING CLUB BAILLIEU 2YO QUALITY GROUP 3 1400M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 2 Nepotism
There was a lot to like about the debut performance of Nepotism and he lines up here after failing to gain a start in the Golden Slipper, in which he was the first emergency.
The son of Brutal made his first raceday appearance in the Todman and didn’t have a lot of room in the straight but still finished off strongly into third behind Tentyris and subsequent Slipper runner up Wodeton.
The way he found the line suggests the rise to 1400m will suit and with natural improvement he looks a major player here.
Tyler Schiller got a feel for him last time, and he stays aboard and barrier three should see the colt afforded every chance.
Race 3: (1:45pm AEDT TOYOTA FORKLIFTS TULLOCH STAKES 3YO C&G SW GROUP 2 2000M
No. 5 Confetti Garden
Confetti Garden makes the trip to Sydney after proving himself at stakes level with a solid effort to finish second the Autumn Classic late last month.
A son of Saxon Warrior, the gelding proved superior at his first two outings, saluting over the mile at Stony Creek before a stepping out to 2000m at Mornington where, despite proving very raw, he was again too good.
Given a four week freshen up, he dropped back to 1800m to contest the Group 2 feature at Caulfield, where he finished off strongly behind Shanwah, who has since won again.
An improving type, he looks nicely placed here getting out to 2000m again and draws to get the right run under Tommy Berry in the 2025 Tulloch Stakes.
Race 4: (2:20pm AEDT) PRECISE AIR NEVILLE SELLWOOD STAKES GROUP 2
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Ceolwulf
Ceolwulf is on the quick up after contesting the George Ryder last Saturday where he produced a terrific effort to finish a close third.
The dual Group 1 winner kicked off his campaign with an encouraging effort in the Apollo Stakes before a slight mishap saw him dropping back in trip to contest the Canterbury Stakes at his following outing.
He relished the rise to 1500m last time and I think he’ll be even better getting out to 2000m here.
Runner up in both the Rosehill Guineas and ATC Derby, he’s already proven himself out over a staying trip and he’s sure to find this easier than what he’s been contesting.
Race 5: (2:55pm AEDT) CINCOTTA CHEMIST EMANCIPATION STAKES F&M GROUP 2 1500M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

4 Scarlet Oak
Scarlet Oak strips fitter for the two runs back and she’ll relish getting onto a wet track.
The Chris Waller trained mare kicked off her campaign in good order with an encouraging effort to finish third in the Millie Fox.
She just looked to bit flat last start when failing to finish off in the Coolmore Stakes but I’m happy to forgive that and she presents here at peak fitness.
She’s unbeaten in two starts on soft tracks and has recorded a win and a second placing from just two outings on heavy going, so the conditions will certainly suit.
Race 6: (3:30pm AEDT) VINERY STUD STAKES 3YO FILLIES SW GROUP 1 2000M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Treasurethe Moment
Treasurethe Moment makes the journey to Sydney looking the make it seven straight wins in the 2025 Vinery Stud Stakes.
The daughter of Alabama Express has built a tremendous record in a short time, and she just keeps on improving.
She put together four on end in the Spring, culminating with Group 1 glory as she powered away to take out the VRC Oaks and she returned in fine order, proving too good in the Angus Armanasco before a dominant display last time int the Kewney.
She’s proven over the 2000m, she gets in extremely well under the set weights conditions and I don’t think she’ll have any trouble with the Syndey way of going.
Race 7: (4:05pm AEDT) EGROUP SECURITY STAR KINGDOM STAKES QUALITY GROUP 3 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Coal Crusher
Coal Crusher just looked to peak on his run late when resuming in the McCarten Stakes, but he will have taken good benefit from it.
Under the 61kg impost, the Joe Pride trained gelding did concede plenty of weight to much of the field and he gets in a little better here.
A nine-time winner, he’s not short of talent and the form around him is hard to go past.
With the added fitness, the rise to 1200m suits and any moisture in the track will only enhance his chances.
Race 8: ( 4:40pm AEDT) KIA TANCRED STAKES WFA GROUP 1 2400M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Dubai Honour
Dubai Honour will kick off his Autumn campaign in the 2025 Tancred Stakes and I’m happy to have to him on top.
The William Haggas trained gelding remains unbeaten on Australian soil, having triumphed in both the Ranvet Stakes and Queen Elizabeth in 2023.
An eight-time winner, the widely travelled seven year old secured his most recent victory in June last year, when taking out the Group One Grand Prix De Saint -Cloud Stakes in France and he was superb in his latest raceday appearance, where he finished second in the Hong Kong Vase in December.
He ticks a lot of boxes here and draws to get the right run under regular rider ‘Aussie Tom’ Marquand.
Race 9: ( 5:15pm AEDT) RACING AND SPORTS DONCASTER PRELUDE QUALITY GROUP 3 1500M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 5 Encap
Encap returned with an even effort in the Canterbury Stakes, and he looks ready to strike second up in the 2025 Doncaster Prelude.
The four year old has only won the two races from his nineteen career outings but he has continued to race well at a high level.
He boasts a terrific second up record and his best performances have been here at Rosehill.
The slight rise to 1500m will suit and Nash Rawiller, who trialled him prior to his return, jumps aboard raceday for the first time.
Race 10: (5:55pm AEDT) HKJC WORLD POOL HANDICAP BM88 1400
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 11 Bojangles
Bojangles has been the runner up at his past two starts and looks well placed to go one better.
The son of Showtime got back off the wide gate when resuming in the Provincial Championship Qualifier, he was always wide and ran on strongly but just found one better on the day.
Last start, it was a similar story but he was taking good ground late of the eventual winer Les Vampires.
He lines up here at peak fitness, he draws to get a much kinder run in transit and is sure to be strong late in the last on Tancred Stakes Day.
