Sweltering comes off a very encouraging effort over 1400m and she looks well suited out to the mile.

Having just her second race start, the daughter of Too Darn Hot picked up strongly over the final part to claim second and post a clear margin back to the rest.

The blinkers go on here for the first time and she’s drawn to get the right run.

Hot Diggity Boom made a big impression in his first preparation and he makes his return here.

Given the two stars, the Lindsay Park trained gelding was brilliant on debut over 1000m at Bendigo, charging home into second after settling at the tail.

Up to 1235m at his following outing, he again settled well back and finished off over them top of them to score by a neat length.

He comes into this off two very pleasing trial performances and with luck off the inside draw, I think he’ll be hard to beat.

There was a lot to like about the debut run of Astral Flame and she will have taken plenty of benefit from the experience.

Restrained off the outside gate in the small field, the filly just wanted to race a bit keen but when brought the outside, she showed a strong turn of foot to charge home into third.

The winkers go on here to help her focus and with natural improvement I think she’ll prove hard to beat.

Matawai returns the races and it’s hard to go past her fresh record.

From seven race starts the Price / Kent trained mare has recorded two wins and a second placing, all of which have been her first up appearances.

She’s performed well against good company and looks nicely placed here dropping back in grade.

Given two recent trials, she cruised to the line to take out the 1000m heat comfortably and she’s sure to be afforded every chance under Blake Shinn.
