BENALLA: Race 1 (1:18pm AEDT)

No. 8 Sudden Change

J: Luke Currie (57kg) T: Matt Laurie

Sudden Change has the benefit of race experience having had the three starts.

The Lonhro filly failed to finish off at her second outing but was found to have pulled up with a slow recovery.

She was very good last time, over 1006m at Sale where she travelled well and charged late to go down by only a head.

She’s race fit and if she can find cover early off the tricky draw, I think she’ll be too strong for them late.

BENALLA: Race 3 (2:28pm AEDT)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 1 1 Mollify

J: Damian Lane (57.5kg) T: Peter G Moody & Katherine Coleman

Mollify returns to the races.

She was just given the three starts in her first preparation and she showed enough at her first two outings for the Moody / Coleman team to throw her in the deep end at stakes level.

She made a very encouraging debut, finishing off strongly into third in Sandown maiden and she was solid at her following start against some handy gallopers.

Sent for break after contesting the Edward Manifold, she lines up her off two pleasing jump outs and gets Damian Lane aboard.

BENALLA: Race 7 (4:55pm AEDT)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Fragile Love

J: Damian Lane (59.5kg) T: Dominic Sutton

Fragile Love finished down the track at her first start for the new stable but I’m happy to forgive.

With six weeks between runs, she got back and was always wide and just felt the pinch late, which she was entitled to do.

A very handy mare on her day, she looks nicely placed here dropping back in grade and she strips fitter.

The blinkers go back on and she’s drawn to receive all the favours under Damian Lane,

BENALLA: Race 8 (5:35pm AEDT)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 1 Varane

J: Billy Egan (61.5kg) T: Patrick & Michelle Payne

Varane kicked off his preparation with a very encouraging effort over 1200m and I think he’ll relish stepping out to 1400m.

Settling a long way back off the wide gate, he made a long sustained run and finished off strongly into second.

Only lightly raced, the son of Vadamos is building a very tidy record and looks progressive.

Billy Egan stays aboard and once again, he does have the wide gate to contend with but from the 1400m start he should be able to find cover early and I think he’ll be too strong for them.
