Daily Racing Tips – Monday, February 3

Magic Pharoah may have a slight class edge over a few having raced in town recently. 

Lou Mary’s mare was an impressive winner two back under big weight at Muswellbrook over a touch further, then going on to make up decent ground after being held up badly at Newcastle out over 1880m.  

She’s drawn a perfect gate here with only 59kg and her race fitness should see her right in the finish back to the mile.  

Island Legend gets back on top of the ground hoping to improve on a disappointing effort last start at Taree. 

The six-year-old son of Capitalist failed to handle the wet conditions in the Harrington Cup, beaten over six lengths when seen weakening badly up on the speed. 

His previous form really stands out on paper though, including a couple of placings and a narrow win over a similar distance two runs back.   

Wilbury looks incredibly tough to beat here coming off an impressive win first-up at Wyong. 

Also by Capitalist, this promising five-year-old relished the wet conditions, tracking the speed out wide to get home by a small margin under Clayton Gallagher. 

The pair have compiled an outstanding record together (four wins and two placings), and look incredibly tough to beat in a similar race. 

Man From Brussells has an awkward gate to overcome second-up for Michael Lynch.  

That said, his return effort over the track and distance last start really caught the eye when working home solidly out wide to run second in Class 1 company. 

This is tougher again carrying some extra weight, but proven second-up and likely better for the run, he’ll be right in the mix in an open contest.
