Daily Racing Tips – Friday, February 7

Best of the day

Walcha: Race 2 (12:50pm)

No. 3 King Larry

J: Shae Wilkes (57.5kg) T: Wayne Wilkes

All eyes on the short-priced favourite King Larry here second-up.

The four-year-old son of Sebring Sun was clearly in need of the run first-up at Port Macquarie, seen battling home late for fourth when the pressure came from behind.

Considering that was just his fourth start, he is open to improvement though, while also owning a clear class edge over this field after racing at Rosehill last time in work.

Proven second-up and more than capable of handling a wet track, he’s our best bet of the day.

Walcha: Race 4 (2:05pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 5 Untold Story

J: Mikayla Weir (55kg) T: Stirling Osland

Untold Story strikes another winnable assignment in just his second race start.

Stirling Osland’s filly was sensational on debut at Armidale last month, pressing forward early to settle in behind the speed, before weaving a passage between a pair of runners approaching the final furlong.

I thought she showed sustained speed when a late challenge presented and with another wet track expected, she should find conditions to suit.

Walcha: Race 6 (3:15pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 4 Who Goes There

J: Siena Grima (55.5kg) T: Mark Mason

Who Goes There is worth forgiving on his latest effort at Warwick Farm.

The five-year-old gelding by Exosphere was last to greet the judge in a small field of six, failing to handle the heavy track when he was seen fading out of the turn to finish several lengths off.

His previous win at Tamworth was exceptional however, overcoming a wide run in transit to go nearly a length clear.

In lighter at the weights thanks to the claim and likely to appreciate a firmer track, this is a nice bounce-back race sticking to his preferred trip of 1000m.

Walcha: Race 8 (4:25pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 2 Dune And Dusted

J: Leeshelle Small (61.5kg) T: Paddy Cunningham

Dune And Dusted is fourth-up for Paddy Cunningham following some likable recent efforts.

The Hidden Dragon four-year-old doesn’t win out of turn, but he did give a nice sight two back at Ipswich in Class 5 company when he went down by the narrowest of margins after pushing forward to lead early from a wide gate.

His latest effort saw him beaten 1.4 lengths at Grafton, but keep in mind he was four weeks between runs and entitled to weaken a little in the finish.

Rock hard fit now and likely to test his luck on the speed again, he’ll prove very tough to catch.
