Best of the day

CANTERBURY Race 2: (6:30pm AEDT)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Automne Tree

J: James McDonald (59kg) T: Chris Waller

Automne Tree has preformed very well in his two runs to date and looks well placed to break through.

The Chris Waller trained gelding made his debut over 1250m here where he hit the long strongly into fourth after getting back.

Up to 1400m last time, he settled closer in the run and again finished off strongly but just found one better on the day.

The rise to the mile looks ideal and James McDonald stays in the saddle.

CANTERBURY Race 4: (7:30pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 1 Little Baia

J: Anna Roper (59.5kg) T: Bjorn Baker

Little Baia comes off a solid win over this track and distance and I think she can repeat that performance.

Bouncing back after losing the rider out of the gates as her prior start, the All Too Had mare was taken straight to front by Anna Roper and never looked in doubt as she showed a good kick to score by half a length.

She gets in nicely once again with the 3kg claim and she’ll give them something to chase.

MOONEE VALLEY Race 3: (7:15pm AEDT)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Dreams

J: Ethan Brown (57kg) T: Michael Kent

Dreams comes off a very encouraging first up effort and she’s sure to have taken plenty of improvement from it.

Sent to the paddock after a tough debut run, the Written Tycoon filly returned in top order as she fought strongly to the line over the 1000m at Pakenham.

Three wide throughout, she third hard and finished a close third, putting up a three length gap back to the rest.

With the added fitness, the rise to 1200 will certainly suit.

MOONEE VALLEY: Race 4 (7:45pm AEDT)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 2 Big Me

J: Ethan Brown (60.5kg) T: Nick Ryan

Big Me was terribly unlucky again here last start over the 955m and I’m hoping he can atone for that.

Held up approaching the turn and in the early part of the straight, the eventual winner was off and gone by the time he got clear.

The former Hong Kong galloper kicked off his campaign with a commanding victory over 1000m at Bendigo but has been luckless in three subsequent starts.

There’s no doubting his ability and if the breaks come his way, he’ll be too good for them.
