Premier League Game Week 23 Tips & Preview

Premier League Game Week 23 Tips & Preview

Six points separate Liverpool from the chasing pack as we enter Game Week 23 of the Premier League.

The Reds have an opportunity to extend that gap to nine points when they play host to relegation candidates Ipswich.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest travels to Bournemouth, Ange looks to alleviate some pressure with a victory over Leicester, while Man City hope to continue their resurgence with a strong performance against Chelsea.

The Offside Oracle has previewed all 10 Premier League fixture this weekend and provided his best betting plays below.

AFC Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest $3.30

Two of the form sides of the comp are set to go toe-to-toe in the opening fixture of Round 23, as the Cherries prepare to host the Trees.

Forest’s victory against the Saints last week took them equal on points with Arsenal in second place on the PL table, six points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s 4-1 destruction of Newcastle takes them level with Chelsea in sixth, just one point back for the top four!

The Cherries have gone an incredible 11 games without defeat across all competitions (7W,4D).

While, Notts Forest are nine games without a defeat (8W,1D), including results against Villa, Man U, Tottenham, and Liverpool.

Both sides are in superb form at the moment, but I have to give Forest the edge here, with their defence a touch more sturdier than that of their opponents.

Southampton FC vs Newcastle United
Newcastle to Win to Nil $2.74

There may be 16 games left in the season, but the Saints are already on their farewell tour, 10 points adrift from safety and 12 games removed from their last league victory (2D,10L).

Meanwhile, defeat last time out to the Cherries broke a run of nine straight victories for the Toon across all comps, while Isak also failed to score for the first time in nine EPL games.

Prior to their defeat against Bournemouth, Newcastle had kept six clean sheets in nine games, while finding their way to goal at a consistant clip.

I have the Magpies bouncing straight back to winning ways, combined with another shoutout.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Everton FC
Brighton & Hove Albion and Over 1.5 Goals $1.91

Brighton look to complete the double over the Toffees when the pair meet at the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls have won three straight fixtures across all comps, most recently easing past Man United 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Alternatively, the Toffees secured their first league win in seven tries, and the first win under returning manager David Moyes, with a 3-2 home victory against Tottenham.

Everton’s GW22 victory is more of a reflection of the state of affairs at Tottenham rather than the impact of Moyes.

The Seagulls topped Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park earlier in the season, and I think they’ll put together a similar performance for their home fans.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Arsenal
Arsenal to Win to Nil $2.31

The Gunners will be looking to put pressure on the Reds with a win over the Wolves on the road.

Arsenal dropped two points in the title race in GW22, allowing a two goal lead over Villa to slip in the second half of their home contest, and were ultimately forced to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Fortunately, this weekend they’ll coming up against a Wolverhampton outfit who they have bettered in seven straight league fixtures, with five of those victories accompanied by a clean sheet.

I’m taking the Gunners to win to nil.

Liverpool vs Ipswich Town
Liverpool (-1) & Salah to Score

After getting humbled 6-0 at the hands of Man City, the Tractor Boys have been dealt the cruisy assignment of Liverpool at Anfield.

The Reds restored a six-point buffer atop of the league standings thanks to an injury-time brace from the much maligned Darwin Nunez.

Liverpool saw off Ipswich 2-0 in the reverse fixture at Portman Road, with Mo Salah and Diogo Jota both finding the back of the net.

I have the Reds covering a -1 goal handicap, combined with Salah’s 19th league goal.

Manchester City vs Chelsea
Manchester City and Over 1.5 Goals $2.05

Match of the round sees Manchester City playing host to Chelsea in the battle of the blues.

The Citizens look to have found their feet again, going unbeaten in six games across all comps (4W,2D), while scoring a handy 20 goals over their last four fixtures!

Meanwhile, the Blues broke a spell of five league games without a win, seeing off Wolves 3-1 at the Bridge in GW22.

The Sky Blues are unbeaten against their Royal Blues counterparts in the pair’s last nine meetings in all comps (7W,2D), and are looking to claim fourth straight victory here.

The bookies are offering an incredible $1.85 on City to win at home, I’m going to combined the outright victory with over 1.5 goals.

Crystal Palace vs Brentford
Crystal Palace $2.05

Brentford will attempt to secure their second away win of the season when they travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.

That’s right, the Bees are 1W-2D-7L on the road this campaign, with only Southampton picking up fewer competition points on their travels (2).

Alternatively, the Eagles are unbeaten in six games across all comps (4W,2D), and are looking to claim a fourth win on the trot this weekend.

I’m sticking to a proven wagering method in Brentford fixtures, and taking the home side to win.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City
Both Teams to Score & Over 3.5 Total Goals $2.08

After a shocking defeat to Everton in GW22, this weekend’s clash against the Foxes is do or die for Ange Postecoglou, whose position at the helm of the Spurs is quickly becoming untenable.

Fortunately for Ange, Leicester (4) are one of the only two outfits who have collected less points than the Spurs (5) over the last 10 league fixtures.

Unsurprisingly, the last six matchups between this pair have seen both sides score, a market I’m expecting to salute again, especially with Tottenham’s ever growing injury list.

Sorry Ange, but I can bring myself to back the Spurs outright, instead I’m taking both sides to score, combined with over 3.5 total goals.

Aston Villa vs West Ham United
Aston Villa and Over 1.5 Goals $1.85

West Ham look to claim their second league victory under Graham Potter when they take to the field at Villa Park.

The Villans are unbeaten against the Hammers in five meetings, and are looking to claim a third straight victory against their Claret and Blue rivals.

This pair met two weeks ago in the FA Cup third round, with Villa claiming a 2-1 victory at home, a scoreline which flattered the guests, who only produced two attempts on target.

I’m taking Villa to continue their dominance in this spot, taking all three competition points, combined with over 1.5 total goals scored.

Fulham vs Manchester United
Fulham $2.30

“Worst team, maybe, in the history of Manchester United” – Ruben Amorim

Need I say more.

Ruben Amorim is coming to grips with the magnitude of the task he has taken on at Manchester, with his squad struggling to adapt to the style of football which was so successful at Sporting.

They’ll need to get up to speed quickly if they harbour any aspirations of defeating Fulham on the road, a side with seven more competition points and five fewer defeats than Man U.

Like the managers who came before him, I don’t think Amorim will be able to get a tune out of the current crop of players at Carrington, and I have them continuing to drop points into the foreseeable future.
