No. 10 Sharp Retort

J: Liam Riordan (57kg) T: Simon Zahra

Sharp Retort was runner-up to the talented Verdoux at Werribee last month, a gelding who has since won a tougher race at Sale.

The filly by Exceedance just lacked the conditioning over her final few strides, but still presents a compelling case with a three-week break between runs.

Back out to 1200m on another dry track, this looks like the right race for her with improvement still to come.

Kilmore: Race 5 (3:30pm)

No. 4 Turn It Up Tommy

J: Dakotah Keane (61kg) T: Denis Pagan

Turn It Up Tommy has gone up a nice price ahead of his fourth run back.

The Dennis Pagan-trained son of Tivaci has spent time racing over shorter distances, last seen battling late for fourth in a much tougher race at Geelong over 1700m.

This is a suitable step back to country level and it’s worth noting he’s won his last two assignments in BM58 grade.

Kilmore: Race 6 (4:00pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 3 Been Our Angel

J: Sarah Field (61kg) T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy

Been Our Angel gets in well with the 2kg claim.

The McEvoy-trained four-year-old was seen doing his best work late last start at Murray Bridge, overcoming a three-wide ride in transit to rattle off some nice late splits over the closing stages.

Back a level and just needing to settle handy from the wide gate, he looks ready for his first look at 1200m.

Kilmore: Race 7 (4:30pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 8 Seacryption

J: Madison Lloyd (59kg) T: Mitchell Freedman

Seacryption just needs to find luck from a slightly awkward gate to go on with the job.

Michael Freedman’s mare returned to the winner’s stall a couple of weeks ago at Kerang where she displayed impressive late speed to go clear from a wide position and win over her final few strides.

This is just her third start of her prep, so with improvement still to come, another win wouldn’t surprise as she sticks to racing over 1400m.
