Canterbury: Race 3 (6:50pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 3 Heed The Omens

J: Adam Hyeronimus (60kg) T: Chris Waller

Heed The Omens has been kept fresh for the run with a nice three-week break between starts.

He was last seen racing at Randwick where he was beaten badly after weakening down the straight, the rider reporting afterwards that his action was a little off.

The son of Hallowed Crown handed in an honest effort third the start prior at Rosehill though, while he’s also one of the few horses in this field that has tackled a heavy track in the past.

Back slightly in trip with the blinkers reapplied, he’s capable of making amends in a wide-open contest.

Canterbury: Race 4 (7:25pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 4 Smart Legend

J: Braith Nock (60.5kg) T: L J Bridge

Smart Legend was too good for his rivals last start over the track and distance, settling back off the speed before quickening smartly to take over and win approaching the final furlong.

He strikes a similar contest here and could potentially handle the conditions if the track improves somewhere into the soft range before the jump.

In well with the 3kg claim, a little luck from out wide would see him just as hard to hold out.

Canterbury: Race 5 (7:55pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 4 Charlemagne

J: Alysha Collett (59kg) T: Danielle Seib

Charlemagne goes well on a wet track and should be racing with confidence after winning the Moruya Cup to start the month.

The six-year-old son of Real Impact overcame a three-wide ride in transit to stretch out and win right on the line, a likable performance after handing in a similar effort three runs back at Canberra.

The speed map suggests he’ll settle in the back half of the field, and if with clear air in the run home, his turn of foot should see him going close.

Canterbury: Race 6 (8:30pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Each Way

No. 8 Little Baia

J: Olivia Chambers (58kg) T: Bjorn Baker

Little Baia is set to start at decent each-way odds with close to a month between runs.

The mare by All Too Hard tried her guts out after bursting onto the scene late at Wyong last start, missing out only narrowly in her first run back from a spell.

Having found money in 11 of the 22 races she’s contested, she remains super honest with some likable wet track form to her name.

Given a trial between starts, she should be ready to rock and roll here at Canterbury where she had success in the past.
