Rosehill Tips & Preview Saturday, December 7

Once again Rosehill Gardens will play host to a ten race card this Saturday.

The rail will be out 4m and the track is currently rated a good 4.

I’ve had a good look through all ten events and my thoughts and selections can be found below.

Race 1: (12:30pm AEDT) PETALUMA HANDICAP BM72 1200M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 2 Private Harry

J: Ashley Morgan (58.5kg) T: Nathan Doyle

Private Harry has been ultra impressive in his two runs to date and makes the trip to town for the first time.

Prepared by Nathan Doyle at Newcastle, the Harry Angel colt made his debut over 900m on his home track and showed a strong turn of foot to power away over the final part and post a 3.4 length margin on the line.

He then headed to Hawkesbury where he was even better again, taking up the running and cruising the line to score by seven lengths.

He looks to have a bright future and from barrier two he’s set to receive all the favours under Ashley Morgan.

Race 2: (1:05pm AEDT) MIDWAY HANDICAP BM72 1500M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 1 Kingston Charm

J: Zac Lloyd (59kg) T: John P Thompson

Kingston Charm is in red hot form and will look to make it three straight.

She had no luck at Randwick three runs back but bounced back to score a last-to-first victory over 1500m at Hawkesbury.

She then stepped out over this track and distance in the Four Pillars, where under a rails hugging ride from Zac Lloyd, she proved too strong late, saluting by over half a length.

She’ll only carry an extra kilo and with the wide gate, she’ll get back and be doing her best work late.

Race 3: (1:40pm AEDT) TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP CLASS 3 1500M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 2 Villasaurus

J: Tyler Schiller (59kg) T: Donna Scott

Villasaurus was far too good when resuming over 1400m here five weeks ago and I think he can repeat that performance.

Enjoying a cosy run in the box seat, he unleashed with a strong turn of foot when brought into clear air and sprinted away to score by over three lengths.

A very progressive galloper, he’s putting together a tidy record and looks to have come back bigger and better.

The rise to 1500m will suit and he has performed well under big weights, so the extra 2kg won’t worry him.

Race 4: (2:15pm AEDT) PRECISE AIR HANDICAP BM72 1800M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Bestower

J: Chad Schofield (55.5kg) T: Kris Lees

Bestower has been racing well and makes the quick back up after racing on Sunday.

A daughter of Contributor, the mare finished the runner up in both of her runs last month, before stepping out over 1850m at Newcastle where she closed off strongly after having no luck in the early part of the straight.

Beaten less than a length, she was unlucky not to have won.

Placed in three of her four runs over this trip, she looks well suited here and Chad Schofield takes over from Darryl McLellan.

Race 5: (2:50pm AEDT) CANADIAN CLUB HANDICAP BM72 1500M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 9 Shangri La Spring

J: Tim Clark (54kg) T: G Waterhouse & A Bott

Shangri La Spring has made it two from two this campaign and the son of Castelvecchio looks very promising.

He made his debut at Goulburn back in May and was subsequently sent to the paddock after a solid effort to finish second.

He’s returned in top order and has been dominant in both runs, with all- way-wins at Kembla Grange and Hawkesbury.

This is a step in class but he’s doing everything right and under Tim Clark, he’ll give them something to catch.

Race 6: (3:25pm AEDT) TAB HANDICAP BM78 2000M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 1 Bullets High

J: Nash Rawiller (59.5kg) T: Joseph Pride

Bullets High is on the seven day back up after stepping out over the 1800m here last Saturday.

The Joe Pride trained gelding was held up on the early part of the straight and had to switch back to the inside, where he wasn’t completely comfortable in the soft 7 conditions but still worked home solidly to get within a length of the winner.

A son of Ace High, he’ll relish the rise to 2000m and will certainly appreciate getting back on a firmer surface.

Nash Rawiller knows him well and is sure to afford him every chance.

Race 7: (4:00pm AEDT) CAPTIVANT @KIA ORA HANDICAP F&M BM78 1300M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 9 How Dare You

J: Zac Lloyd (55kg) T: James Cummings

How Dare You was the eye catcher when resuming at Canterbury three weeks ago and arguably should have won.

Missing the start by a considerable margin, she settled three lengths last and when trying to save ground and look for a run, she was be held up but charged home to claim fourth.

The Godolphin mare has always shown good ability but hasn’t always had the best of luck.

She strips fitter for that first up effort, she has won second up previously and while she does rise in grade, she’ll certainly appreciate the 4kg drop in the weights.

Zac Lloyd holds an unblemished record aboard the mare, with two wins form just two rides and he goes back aboard for James Cummings.

Race 8: (4:40pm AEDT) JAMES SQUIRE HANDICAP BM94 1400M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 5 So Risque

J: Nash Rawiller (57.5kg) T: Ben, Will & Jd Hayes

So Risque returns to the races.

Prepared by the Lindsay Park team, the ultra consistent son of So You Think has continued to improve with racing and produced some terrific performances last campaign.

He’s only had the one run in Sydney, which was over 1500m here and he was just collared late after leading but stuck on gamely to hold third.

He boasts solid form around him and does race particularly well fresh.

Nash Rawiller will do the steering and from gate two, he’s set to receive all the favours.

Race 9: (5:20pm AEDT) TOYOTA FORKLIFTS HANDICAP BM88 1100M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 7 Inhibitions

J: Kerrin McEvoy (56kg) T: James Cummings

Inhibitions loomed to win last start over 1300m at Newcastle but just couldn’t run down Uzziah, who showed a strong kick over the final part.

Prepared by the Godolphin powerhouse, the Zoustar mare was doing her best work late when resuming at Randwick and she again finished off strongly after settling at the tail second up on the Kensington.

She’s performed consistently throughout her career and with five stakes placings to her name, she’s certainly not short of talent.

The team have elected to drop her back to 1100m and apply the blinkers for the first time.

Kerrin McEvoy partnered her last start, he stays onboard and with luck form the tricky draw, I think she’ll be right in this.

Race 10: (5:55pm AEDT) ROSEHILL BOWLING CLUB HANDICAP BM78 1300M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 5 Midnight Opal

J: Jason Collett (57kg) T: Nathan Doyle

Midnight Opal has returned in top order this campaign and there was plenty of merit in his last start performance at Kembla Grange.

Caught wide in the early part he was pressed forward sit outside the leader and stuck on gamely to hold a clear margin back to the rest.

The Deep Field gelding has only had the two wins from his ten starts but has continued to race well against quality opposition and he looks very progressive.

He’s fit, the slight drop back to 1300m looks ideal and Jason Collet stays in the saddle for Nathan Doyle.
