Premier League Game Week 17 Tips & Preview

Is Man City’s dream of five straight Premier League titles over?

Can Tottenham win back-to-back league fixtures?

Are Chelsea the real deal?

The Offside Oracle has previewed all 10 Premier League Game Week 17 fixtures and provided his best bets below!

Aston Villa vs Manchester City
SMG: Both Teams to Score | Over 2.5 Goals | 2+ SoT Haaland | 1+ SoT Foden & Watkins

Man City aren’t waiting to hear the verdict from the trial of the 115+ charges brought against them by the EPL, they are instead hell bent on a self-inflicted punishment.

The Sky Blues are ranked 17th on form across the last five games (1W,1D,3L), and 14th across the last 10 (4W,1D,5L).

Meanwhile, Villa aren’t faring any better, ranked 16th across their last 10 league fixtures (3W,3D,4L).

The home side have won the last three games between this pair, with the last away victory coming in 2021, City winning at Villa Park on that occasion.

Six of the last seven games between this pair have seen both sides score, five of which saw over 2.5 total goals.

I’m backing both teams to score and over 2.5 total goals, combined with shots on target from Haaland, Foden and Watkins.

West Ham United vs Brighton & Hove Albion
Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals $1.79

The Seagulls are chasing their first win since Game Week 12 (2D,2L) when they travel to the capital to take on the Hammers.

Incredibly, both sides have found the back of the net in the last nine Brighton fixtures, with over 3.5 goals scored in each of the three most recent games.

West Ham’s defence hasn’t shaped up much better, conceding nine times across their last three starts (as of 16/12).

Both teams to score and over 2.5 seems a safe play here.

Brentford vs Nottingham Forest
Brentford $2.15

Notts Forest look to consolidate their position inside the top four when they travel to Brentford.

The Bees will have other ideas though, with their home record unrivalled in the league (7W,1D).

This pair have met just four times in the Premier League era, with Brentford going unbeaten across the trip (2W,2D).

At home, the Bees are prime ’08 Barcelona, and look good value at $2.15.

Ipswich Town vs Newcastle United
Newcastle United and Over 1.5 Goals $1.95

Has Newcastle got their swagger back?

The Magpies ran rampant over the Foxes in GW16, finding the back of the net four times, on their way to a shut-out victory.

They’ll be traveling to Portman Road to take on an Ipswich outfit who claimed their second win of the season last time out, seeing off the hapless Wolves.

Following a lean spell in front of goal, the Toon’s top three all contributed against Leicester, Isak finished with a goal and an assists, making it three straight league games with a goal, while Gordan (1A) and Murphy (2G) both chipped in as well.

I’m backing the Toon to kick on with it here, claiming three points on the road, combined with over 1.5 total goals scored.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Arsenal and Over 1.5 Goals $1.91

The Gunners look to get their title tilt back on track with a victory over the Eagles in a London Derby.

Arsenal dropped the ball last time out, failing to find the back of the net against the relegation threatened Toffees, ultimately resigning themselves to a second straight league draw.

They’ll face a Crystal Palace side who have well and truely found their grove, with one loss in their last nine games across all competitions (4W,4D).

The Gunners have won their last four games against the Eagles, conceding just once across the trip (12-1).

I’m backing a swift return to form for Arsenal, claiming a win on the road combined with over 1.5 total goals.

Everton FC vs Chelsea
Both Teams to Score (No) $2.05

Speaking of the Toffees, they will be hosting the form side of the comp, Chelsea.

The Blues are now just two points adrift of the Reds at the top of the table, and are aiming to secure their 8th straight win across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Everton have fallen to defeat just twice in their last 11 league fixtures (3W,6D), largely thanks to their defensive record, keeping six clean sheets across the trip.

As good as Everton’s defence has been, Chelsea’s offence has been better, leading the league in goals for (37), scoring in every league fixture since their 2-0 defeat to Man City in Game Week 1.

The ‘Both Teams to Score’ market has failed to hit in four of the last five games between this pair, and in the last six straight games featuring Everton.

I’m backing at least one side to be held to a clean sheet.

Fulham vs Southampton FC
Fulham and Over 2.5 Goals $1.91

Russel Martin joined the long list of sacked EPL managers following his side’s humbling 5-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham.

The Saints will look to put that result behind them when they travel to Craven Cottage to take on an inform Fulhum outfit.

The Cottagers have lost just once across their last eight league fixtures (3W,4D), recently collecting points against Tottenham (D), Brighton (W), Arsenal (D), and Liverpool (D).

Fulham have won the previous two meetings against Southampton, scoring twice in both fixtures.

I’m backing the Saints’ suffering to continue in GW17, falling to a heavy defeat at the Cottage.

Leicester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Over 3.5 Total Goals $2.50

Speaking of sacked managers, Wolves just parted ways with Gary O’Neil following a run of four straight losses in the league.

They’ll head to Leicester, who are not far removed from sacking their manager.

Both of these sides have horrendous defensive records, Wolverhampton have conceded a league-high 40 goals, while the Foxes have shipped an embarrassing 34 goals across their 16 games.

Leicesters last four games have seen over 3.5 total goals scored, the same can be said of three of the Wolves last five fixtures.

I’m backing the goals to flow.

Manchester United vs AFC Bournemouth
Manchester United & Both Teams to Score $3.20

Back-to-back wins across all comps and a Manchester Derby victory has Man U fans believing again!

But, it’s the hope that ultimately kills you.

Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils play host to the Cherries, with a win likely to take them into the top half of the table.

Though, this is no gimme against a Bournemouth outfit who have won three straight games (as of 16/12), and who also came to Old Trafford last season and left with all three competition points in a 3-0 mauling of a then Ten Haag’s side.

That being said, Man U have been playing with more direction and purpose under Amorim.

I’m backing Man United to win at home, but not without conceding.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool
SGM: As Seen Below

The pressure has been slightly lifted off the shoulders of Ange Postecoglou following his side’s 5-0 dismantling on Southampton.

That joy/relief may be short lived, as Spurs prepare to host league leaders, Liverpool this weekend.

The Reds nine point buffer at the top of the league has been cut to two following back-to-back draws, and a match postponement.

Liverpool’s solid defensive unit will be put to the test by Tottenham’s relentless press, but should they withstand the pressure, the Reds’ front three could run riot on the break.

16 goals have been scored across the last three meetings between this pair, with the Reds winning two of those fixtures (1L), and both teams scoring in all three.

I’m backing bulk chances to come at both ends of the ground, with several forwards to register a shot on target.

SGM:
Son 1+ SoT
Salah 2+ SoT
Gakpo 1+ SoT
Solanke 1+ SoT
