The Brisbane Summer Carnival is really starting to heat up and this Saturday we’ll see ten races run and won at Eagle Farm.
Thankfully, the rain has subsided in the Sunshine State and with fine weather predicted over the weekend, we can expect to be running on a good to soft surface.
The Listed Members Mile will headline the program, along with the Group 3 BJ McLachlan and Listed Falvelon Stakes.
We’ve had a close look at all ten events and have provided our thoughts and selections below.
EAGLE FARM: Race 1 (12:13pm) GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH BM78 HANDICAP 2218M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 3 Habeebah
Habeebah has just had the three starts here in Australia and looks ready to peak out to this trip.
She was solid through the line two runs back over the mile, giving the impressive she was looking for further.
Out to 2000m last time, she settled back at the tail and just had too much ground to make up in the heavy conditions, but still finished off nicely.
Formally prepared in France, the daughter of Invincible Spirit, had recorded three wins and two placings from her seven starts before heading down under so she’s not short of talent and she looks well placed dropping back in grade.
Angela Jones is in red hot form and will again do the steering for Tony Gollan.
EAGLE FARM: Race 2 (12:48pm) XXXX CLASS 3 PLATE SW 1820M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 8 Miss Joelene
Miss Joelene has been placed in all three starts this campaign and she’ll relish the rise to 1820m.
Last start over the mile at Doomben, lumping 59.5kgs in very heavy conditions, she hit the front 100m out and looked to have the race in her keeping but was just collared late.
She drops from a Class 6 Handicap back to a Class 3 Plate and in doing so will carry 1.5kgs less, so she gets in very nicely here.
With regular rider Jimmy Orman sidelined, Ryan Maloney will take the mount.
EAGLE FARM: Race 3 (1:23pm) SEASONS GREETINGS FROM BRC CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1000M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 2 Bezique
Bezique returns to the races.
The runner up in three of her five starts last campaign, all of which were at Listed level and off wide draws, she’s certainly not short of talent.
She made it three straight wins in her prior preparation, working through her grades with ease and she looks to have a bright future ahead.
A 1000m trial win last month showed she’s returned in top order and from gate four she’ll be afforded every chance under Emily Lang, who goes aboard for her boss Tony Gollan.
EAGLE FARM: Race 4 (1:58pm) BRC LIFE MEMBERS BM70 HANDICAP 1500M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 1 Mickey's Medal
Mickey’s Medal was only average when resuming here over 1400m in the Gateway but he will have taken plenty of improvement from the outing.
He drops back in grade and all three of his wins have come over the 1500m journey.
The Brave Smash gelding boasts solid form around him and the blinkers go back on here.
He gets in nicely with the 2kg claim for Emily Lang and has drawn to get the right run.
EAGLE FARM: Race 5 (2:37pm) SKY RACING QTIS 3YO QUALITY HANDICAP 1600M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 9 Mazis
Mazis had no luck at all when making his debut over 1350m at Doomben but he will have taken plenty of benefit from the experience.
Settling in the second half of the field, he had nowhere to go in the early part of the straight but hit the line strongly over the final 150m once clear.
With that run under his belt, the rise to the mile looks ideal for this son of American Pharoah and the inside draw should see him settle closer in the run.
One of only two maiden gallopers in the field, he is eligible for easier races but this doesn’t look to have a whole lot of depth to it.
EAGLE FARM: Race 6 (3:12pm) SEVEN MEMBERS MILE LISTED SW+P 1600M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 6 Gold Bullion
Gold Bullion was solid through the line when resuming over 1400m on the Kensington track and he strips fitter for the run.
Prepared by the Waterhouse / Bott team, the son of Savabeel has been placed in both second up outings and does hold a very handy record over the mile.
A class horse on his day, the four year has competed at stakes level for the majority of his thirteen start career and crossed the line first in the Group Three Pack Plate back in the Autumn before losing it on protest.
He’s certainly up to this and drops 6kgs on that first up outing.
Barrier three can see him afforded all the favours under Regan Bayliss
EAGLE FARM: Race 7 (3:48pm) MAGIC MILLIONS B.J MCLACHLAN STAKES 2YO GROUP 3 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 7 Hi Barbie
There were high expectations placed upon Hi Barbie as she made her debut in the Listed Phelan Ready Stakes a fortnight ago but she well and truly lived up to those as she extended strongly on the heavy surface to get the job done.
A $1.2 million yearling purchase, the I Am Invincible filly had trialled impressively prior to that outing and despite not looking entirely comfortable in the conditions, her class certainly shone through.
She will have taken plenty of benefit from the experience and is sure to appreciate getting onto a firmer deck.
I don’t think the wide gate will prove too much of an issue and under Angela Jones she’ll be afforded every chance.
EAGLE FARM: Race 8 (4:32pm) MAGIC MILLIONS FALVELON LISTED 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 10 Garza Blanca
Garza Blanca was luckless when resuming at Flemington on Oaks Day but the I Am Invincible gelding bounced back in style, recording a strong victory in the Listed Doveton Stakes at Flemington last start.
Prepared by Ciaron Maher, the five year old has always shown plenty of talent and currently holds the 1200m course record at Cranbourne, which he set back in 2022.
He hasn’t always had the best of luck but has continued to perform well throughout his fifteen start career.
He gets in beautifully here with just 53.5kgs on his back and he excels on soft tracks.
EAGLE FARM: Race 9 (5:12pm) U&U RECRUITMENT BM85 HANDICAP 1400M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 9 Transatlantic
Transatlantic was a brilliant winner two runs back, extending strongly to score by almost five lengths at the Sunshine Coast.
He then started a short-priced favourite in the Gateway where he failed to finish off but a post race vet examination showed him to be suffering from the thumps.
More often than not, we soon see them bounce back to winning form so I’m happy to stick with him.
A son of Snitzel, he’s put together a very tidy record and looks a horse on the rise.
1400m looks to be his sweet spot and he’ll appreciate the 3kg drop in the weights.
EAGLE FARM: Race 10 (5:50pm) LADBROKES RACING CLUB CLASS 3 PLATE 1200M
Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 12 Ouroboros
Ouroboros resumes for the new stable and the son of Harry Angel has been gelded since we last him on raceday.
Formally prepared by the Price / Kent team, the four year old has shown good ability and boasts solid form around him.
In seven starts, he’s only missed a top three spot on one occasion and he was beaten a nose when finishing the runner up in the Group 3 Vain Stakes behind Cylinder.
He’s just had the one public trial where he wasn’t roused along but no doubt the Hoysted team have since given him a jump out or two and if he can find his best, he’ll be right in this.
