The A-League keeps on rolling and we’ve got another massive week of domestic men’s Australian football coming your way!
Here is my preview for Round 8 of the 2024/25 A-League Season!
The Mariners are on a sneaky little two game win streak heading into this one and will need all the momentum they can get if they want to be the first team to beat Adelaide United this year,
The Reds are 4-2-0 and come into this game ever so slightly the favourites at $2.30.
If you’re a fan of betting trends, Adelaide has lost each of its last six Week 8 games.
I think that’s a crazy coincidence though and am backing Adelaide.
Blindly backing Wellington did me no favours last week in the Kiwi Classico but the ‘Nix have a much more favourable matchup this week against the Bulls and I think we could be on here!
Macarthur have just the one win to their name in their last five games and are outsiders in NZ here at $2.95.
The underdog has won three of Wellington’s last four games which would tell you that it’s Macarthur who you should back but I think you’ll find that it’s the Phoenix who has been the underdog in those games.
Up the Nix!
The boys from Western Melbourne still only have the one win to their name this season and are massive outsiders in this fixture against Sydney.
I don’t hold much hope for United here, Sydney FC has won each of its last seven home games following a loss and given how poor WU have been to start this season, Sydney H2H looks to be the play here.
Sydney -1 if you’re feeling fruity.
Game three of a saturday quadruple header see the WSW hosting the still winless Brisbane Roar in a game where unfortunately, i give Brisbane no chance.
The Roar have the second worst goal differential in the league and even though WSW Wanderers are only ninth currently, they’ve scored the second most goals in the league this year. O
nly behind Macarthur by one goal.
Western Sydney has lost each of its last eight night games following a win but I can’t imagine they were up against a side as poor as this Brisbane one.
We wrap up a very large Saturday of football with a trip out west where the Glory will host Newcastle.
I’ve been saying it for years, the time difference in these Perth night games always acts as an extra player on the field and the bookies might be catching on.
Despite not winning a game yet this year, the Glory are the favourites.
Given that the Jets are only one point ahead of them and this one is being played in a timeslot that favours Perth, you have to back the home side don’t you?
THE DISRESPECT FOR AUCKLAND.
The most successful football franchise in football history (if you’re going off win percentage) are underdogs against City in this Sunday afternoon fixture.
Auckland have allowed just the one goal this season and yeah, have never ever lost.
It will come eventually, you can’t win them all but I will be riding the hot hand until it is hot no more.
