No. 6 Lario

J: Blake Shinn (57kg) T: Danny O'Brien

Lario comes back to compete at Class 1 level after tackling the Listed Batman Stakes earlier in the month at Flemington where he finished midfield.

He was far from disgraced racing against his own own age that day and is likely to find the step back to the mile to his liking.

How he handles the sting out of the track is a query from a wide gate, but the son of Epaulette does have claims with the fitness edge of four runs under his belt.

Caulfield: Race 5 (2:30pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 5 Lake Vostok

J: Daniel Moor (60kg) T: Luke Oliver

Lake Vostok appears well-placed to improve on her runner-up effort last start at Flemington.

A daughter to Russian Revolution, this lightly-raced mare has found the money in five of the races she’s contested to start her career, revving up with a strong turn of foot to be denied by only a small margin three weeks ago behind Bon Mistress.

Fitter third-up with her maiden coming at this stage of her prep last time in work, she ticks a few important boxes back over the mile.

Caulfield: Race 6 (3:00pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 6 Fury

J: Jordan Childs (60kg) T: M, W & J Hawkes

Fury is a likely improved third-up for Team Hawkes.

The four-year-old by Written Tycoon has some nice form on his resume this time in work, notably finishing runner-up to Spanish Fox first-up at Kensington – a gelding that has put together five wins on the trot.

Jordan Childs remains in the saddle, and while a wet track might test him, there was a bit to like about the ground he made up at The Valley last time out after spotting the rest of the field a start.

Caulfield: Race 8 (4:00pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 9 Voracious

J: Damian Lane (58kg) T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr

Voracious has drawn another gate looking to improve on a runner-up effort at Kilmore.

Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr’s four-year-old has won and placed twice from six starts at the races, just missing out on another trip to the winner’s stall a few weeks ago where he went down fighting behind Untethered.

Out slightly in trip now with the class of Damian Lane engaged, he rates one of the main players if he handles the conditions.
