Daily Racing Tips – Kyneton Cup Day Special

Platinum Destroyer has been racing well enough to take this out.  

Liam Howley’s gelding by Smart Missile was his second race at Cranbourne over the mile two back, storming clear over the final furlong where he looked to be a class above most of his rivals.  

He then stepped out in a BM80 contest at Caulfield out over further where he was far from disgraced beaten three lengths in his third run back. 

Hard fit now and back to country level, he looks well placed to return to the winner’s stall.  

Patriot Star can give this a good shake from a perfect gate.  

A filly to Deep Field, this lightly-raced three-year-old appeared in need of the run first-up at Ballarat when she hit the line hard beaten two lengths among a wall of horses charging late.  

She had a wide gate to overcome that day but draws to get a nice patient steer just off the speed under Damian Lane.  

Overactive is a likely improver second-up.  

The Freedman-trained five-year-old made up a stack of ground late at Geelong last start, an impressive run following a slow get away under Jye McNeil. 

The pair combine again here from a perfect middle gate and there’s no query he’ll appreciate 1200m again. 

Mathew has been a tricky horse to follow, but there was a bit to like about his effort over the mile at Moe last start.  

The Payne-trained gelding by Tavistock made decent ground between a pair of runners from a long way back, indicating over his final few strides that he might be wanting further. 

Form around Star Vega earlier in the year, a horse that has since gone on to run back to back placings in the Coongy and Bendigo Cup also reads well.
