The international break is done and dusted and this week all A-League teams will head to Sydney for Unite Round!
I’ve run my eyes over each game this weekend.
Here is my preview of week 5 of the A-League!
We get it all kicked off on Friday afternoon with the Glory and Western United doing battle!
Both sides are still yet to win a game this season but Western United are significantly shorter than the Glory, it’s $3.35 plays $1.96.
The smart money seems to be for United in this one, Perth have lost seven of their last eight games and that one little exception was a draw.
United for me.
Our second Friday night footy spectacle is a ninth v tenth clash as the Jets and Mariners do battle in an F3 Derby and the bookies are struggling to split them.
With just the one win between them this season, both sides will be looking to find a bit of form here and the betting trends lean towards the Mariners.
CCM has won each of their last six “away” games against Newy.
They are technically the away team here so we could see that trend continue.
Bottom of the table Brisbane Roar will get Saturday’s precedings started with a clash against the fifth placed and undefeated Adelaide United.
It’s not shaping up well for Brisbane here is it?
They’re $2.90 underdogs which honestly isn’t the steepest we’ve seen this yearm but the Roar will need to improve significantly if they are to get three points this week.
They have won each of their last three day games as a home underdog, are we buying into that betting trend?
I’m not, Adelaide to win.
Easily the highlight of Unite Round this weekend, on Saturday night we’re treated to yet another Sydney Derby.
It was 2-1 the Sky Blues back in October and although they sit next to each other on the table, with the odds heavily in Sydney’s favour.
WSW have lost each of their last seven night games following a win and even though they usually find another gear for this fixture.
I lean towards a win for the Sky Blues.
Another week of blindly backing the Phoenix?
I don’t think it will pay dividends this week, the Victory look bloody good this year.
The Vics sit on top of the table, are undefeated but more importantly are $1.88 favourites in this one.
I love Wellington, I really do but I don’t see them getting up here.
Victory on the nose.
Auckland are the only truly undefeated side in the league this year.
They’re 3-0-0 and have a great chance to make that four wins this week against a Macarthur outfit that has been very up and down to start the year at 2-0-2.
$2.30 seems value for Auckland, they don’t know what defeat feels like and the Bulls have lost five of their last six games following a win.
Up the Kiwis!
