Eagle Farm Tips & Preview – Saturday, October 19

Another 10-race program has been assembled this Saturday at Eagle Farm on the same date Sydney’s hosts the $20 million The Everest race at Randwick and Melbourne comes to life for the $5 million Caulfield Cup

The weather is fine with the track currently rated a Soft 5 and the rail 6m across the circuit.

As always, you can find our best on each race in our complete preview below.

Race 1 - 11:38AM ST RITA’S COLLEGE Class 4 Plate (1000 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 10 Super Daisy

J: Cody Collis (58kg) T: T N Miller

Super Daisy is airborne right now and there’s no reason to hop off.

Trevor Miller’s mare has strung together four impressive wins on the trot since resuming, making every post a winner over the track and distance last start to gap Great Barrier Reef by over a length.

She’s close to a month between runs and gets in well with the 3kg apprentice claim.

With good early speed expected, she’ll relish a hot tempo and look to run her usual race up on the speed.

Race 2 - 12:13PM Road to Magic Millions on Sale Now BM78 Handicap (2400 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Bedford Square

J: Emily Lang (56kg) T: Jack Bruce

Bedford Square is deep into her prep, but she’s held her form nicely to finish thereabouts in her last two starts at the Gold Coast and Doomben.

The tactics were slightly against her last start over 200m shorter, taken a long way back off the speed before being asked to pick up late and give charge from a wide gate.

She’s struggled at the barriers yet again but does get in well at the weights carrying 2kg less thanks to the claim.

The Tavistock mar doesn’t win out of turn, but with form over 2400m to her name, she looks a likely improver.

Race 3 - 12:48PM XXXX No Metro Wins Handicap (1400 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 19 Jealous

J: Kyle Wilson-Taylor (53.5kg) T: Robert Heathcote

The Rob Heathcote-trained Jealous presents a compelling case third-up.

The mare by Niconni is one of the emergencies as I write, but she’ll prove a serious chance if she works her way into the field coming off a handy win at BM58 level at Ipswich last start.

This is a rise in class stepping up to Saturday grade, but she did race well at this level last time in work.

Down in the weights and drawn to get a perfect run off the speed, don’t be surprised if she’s finishing off well over the top of most of these.

Race 4 - 1:23PM EVA AIR OPEN Handicap (1830 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Hyde

J: Cejay Graham (54kg) T: Annabel Neasham & Rob Archibald

Hyde is on the quick backup for Annabel Neasham after storming home to win quite well over the track and distance last week.

A fair bit went against him in the concluding stages that day, held up badly for a run before finding clear air and punching through.

This trip is his bread and butter and he’s clearly pulled up well enough to take on the inconsistent Junipal dropping a whopping 5kg in the saddle.

Race 5 - 1:58PM Southern Pacific Sands BM78 Handicap (1600 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 8 Talk Time

J: Andrew Mallyon (58kg) T: Lindsay Hatch

Hard to back against Talk Time after winning so well over the mile at Toowoomba on Weetwood Day last month.

The five-year-old son of Spill The Beans was given a 10/10 ride by Andrew Mallyon, trucking up nicely out wide to reel in the leaders and win convincingly by 3.3 lengths.

He’s been given a nice break between runs and looks to have a nice motion about him, so if Mallyon can find the right spot in the straight and allow him to work through his gears, good luck beating him.

Race 6 - 2:33PM CLEAR TO WORK ST RITA’S Class 2 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 1 End Assembly

J: Jasper Franklin (61.5kg) T: Mark Currie

Keen to see what End Assembly can produce here from the inside gate.

The Outreach five-year-old just lacked the fitness first-up when he was forced to settle for second on return at Toowoomba, then going on to tackle a bottomless heavy track out to 1200m where he struggled to finish off.

This is his third start since joining Mark Currie’s yard, and with some decent form down in Melbourne as a four-year-old, he looks like the one to beat against a fairly thin field.

Race 7 - 3:23PM Place Ascot BM90 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 8 Cigar Flick

J: Andrew Mallyon (54.5kg) T: Chris Waller

Cigar Flick is a proven first-up performer looking to build on a solid Winter prep.

Chris Waller’s mare has been a tricky mare to get a read on at times, but she really returned to form when she ventured up to Queensland, winning Tatt’s Plate on Tiara Day where she came from a mile back to win by 1.5 lengths.

The daughter of Churchill has won twice on return and has trialled up nicely on the Gold Coast, so this rates a very nice race for her to pick up where she left off.

Race 8 - 4:00PM Madison Cleaning QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap (1400 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Bollinger Miss

J: Martin Harley (55kg) T: Chris & Corey Munce

Bollinger Miss gets out to 1400m for the first time with a couple of solid runs under her belt.

The Munce-trained filly by Zousain ran her usual race up on the speed last start at Doomben, settling fourth early on before grabbing the front into the straight and holding on nicely for a place.

She continues to improve with racing and looks ready to peak third-up with Martin Harley, who steered her to her maiden win first-up, back in the saddle.

Race 9 - 4:43PM Canadian Club BM70 Handicap (1830 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Naval Seal

J: James Orman (58.5kg) T: Chris Waller

Naval Seal should be racing with confidence as he makes the trek up north off a break.

Chris Waller’s six-year-old steps out in his home state for the first time following a dominant win over the same journey at Hawkesbury in August, a performance that saw him settle patiently around midfield, before unleashing with strong late speed to dominate over the final furlong.

The Snitzel gelding can mix his form, but he does race well fresh and looks to have a class edge over a few of these.

Race 10 - 5:23PM Ladbrokes Own Spring BM68 Handicap (1400 METRES)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 15 Ellibaby

J: James Orman (58kg) T: David Vandyke

Ellibaby on top in a race that inspires little confidence.

David Vandyke’s lightly-raced mare is third-up having not raced since she went around at Doomben close to a month ago, overracing at a crucial stage and running on late for second.

This is her first look at Eagle Farm and the gate she’s drawn is far from kind, but she does have some likable form around the impressive I Am Artie, who has since gone on to win back-to-back starts in town since the pair clashed on the Sunshine Coast last month.
