No. 4 Bubbling

J: Beau Mertens (57.5kg) T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr

Bubbling shouldn’t be a maiden for much longer based on recent efforts.

The four-year-old mare by Shocking has gone close on back to back occasions over this distance range, simply running out of gas over her final few strides at Ballarat last start after racing wide early on.

She’s been up since August so is rock-hard fit with four runs under her belt, and now that Beau Mertens has a feel for her, the pair should prove difficult to hold out from the middle gate.

No. 10 Vixenette

J: Harry Coffey (56.5kg) T: T & C McEvoy

Vixenette strips fitter third-up for Tony and Calvin McEvoy.

The filly by Trapeze Artist went around at Flemington second-up off a four-week let-up last month, a race that saw her outclassed when beaten over five lengths by Swiftfalcon.

This is easier back to country level, particularly from an inside gate with another decent gap between starts.

Having won her maiden fresh at Ballarat on the synthetic, a bounce back effort is on the cards if she can get back early in the run.

Kilmore: Race 6 (3:00pm)

No. 12 Perfectly Good

J: Blake Shinn (57kg) T: Ben, Will & Jd Hayes

Perfectly Good is a three-year-old with upside for Team Hayes.

The lightly-raced son of Super Seth has gone to another level since returning a gelding, winning his maiden in fine style last start at Wagga when making up huge ground in the run home after blowing the start.

He’s drawn to receive every chance with the class of Blake Shinn engaged and is unlikely to find this any tougher.

Kilmore: Race 7 (3:30pm)

No. 5 Suzido

J: Blake Shinn (61kg) T: Charlotte Littlefield

Suzido is seemingly the safest play in what is a tricky betting race.

The mare by Supido hasn’t won in well over a year, but she has been racing well in similar contest of late, notably running on late to just miss out on a place at Moe over a similar distance last time out.

She kept finding the line on a wet track and ran some good late splits, so everything about that effort suggests she can measure up again from the inside gate on this occasion.
