No. 14 Tessa’s Choice

J: Damian Lane (55kg) T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr

Tessa’s Choice resumes off a lengthy spell having debuted in the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes at Flemington last November.

The Extreme Choice filly has been given the one trial in the leadup to her return, running on late for second at Cranbourne.

I dare say the 1200m might test her off such a long break, but after finishing just over two lengths behind the impressive Eneeza last year, this still looks a nice race for her to make an impression.

Ballarat: Race 5 (3:00pm)

Win

No. 1 Rule Of Time

J: Jett Stanley (63kg) T: Thomas Sadler

Rule Of Time just needs to handle the extra weight to be a serious chance over the mile.

The Sebring mare returned from a four-week let-up at Geelong last month to find the line for third, chasing hard from midfield to arrive over her final few strides.

She won well over a touch shorter in soft conditions the start prior and is likely to find this easier back in grade.

In well with the claim and drawn to receive every chance along the rail, this looks the right race.

Ballarat: Race 7 (4:00pm)

No. 3 Mansiere

J: Rhys McLeod (62kg) T: Nick Ryan

Mansiere could have a class edge here if he produces his best.

The son of Brave Smash made up late ground at Morphettville a couple of weeks ago to finish second, a much-improved effort after tackling tougher races in town earlier in the year.

He’s drawn a nice gate on this occasion and has handled wet tracks quite well in the past. Just needs to handle the big weight with Rhys McLeod proven in the saddle.

Ballarat: Race 8 (4:30pm)

Each Way

No. 8 If I Was You

J: Teodore Nugent (59.5kg) T: M & L Kavanagh

If I Was You is a decent each-way shout at double-figure odds.

The wide gate makes this slightly tricky, but we did see this boy by Hellbent come out and win his maiden impressively at Wodonga last start over the same trip.

His late splits that day leap off the paper and he looks as though he has plenty left in the tank with just two runs under his belt this prep.
