Daily NHL Tips – Tuesday, October 15

Utah Hockey Club @ New Jersey Devils, 3:10am
Tip: Dylan Guenther Over Shots On Goal Total, Dylan Guenther Anytime Goal Scorer

The top two teams battle it out at the Prudential Center on Tuesday with Utah hoping to remain undefeated, and the Devils looking to bounce back from their first loss to the Leafs.

The NHL’s newest team is off to a fast start, leading the league with 16 goals scored despite ranking bottom five in shots per-game.

On the other side, the Devils are giving up a high number of shots to start the season, while it was clear in their loss to Toronto that there might be some fatigue at play after starting the season overseas.

Fortunately, offseason signing Jacob Markstrom is back between the pipes for the home side, but given their defensive struggles, this could be a nice spot to play on Dylan Guenther in the shots and goals column.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Montreal Canadiens, 9:38am
Tip: Cole Caufield Anytime Goal Scorer

One look at the Top Goal Scorers sheet should tell you who we’re betting on in this one.

Montreal winger Cole Caufield is off to a white-hot start to the season, finding the back of the net four times in just three games against the Leafs, Bruins, and Senators.

After a down second half to last year, Caufield has bounced back strongly to kick off his campaign, while he’s also caused problems for the Penguins in recent times, scoring two goals in eight appearances.

New York Islanders @ Colorado Avalanche, 11:10am
Tip: Over 6.5 Goals @ $1.92

We’ve got a 6.5 goal total here between the Isles and Avs, which isn’t surprising given the struggles these two sides have shown defensively to start the year.

Colorado is still winless after giving up eight goals in their opener to Vegas and six to Columbus on Sunday, while the Isles are in the same boat after losing 4-5 in OT to Utah before Sunday’s 3-0 shutout against the Stars.

It looks as though we’ll be getting Varlamov vs Georgiev in net, but if those early trends are anything to go by, the Over looks a decent bet.
