Mark Vientos vs Philadelphia Phillies
- Vientos has recorded three hits from 15 plate appearances against Ranger Suarez, including a home run that registered 94 MPH off the bat.
Yuli Gurriel vs New York Yankees
- Gurriel took Clarke Schmidt deep in his lone plate appearance, a hit that registered 93.3 MPH.
Game 4 – NYM Leads 2-1
Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker combined to give the Mets a blowout victory in Game 3 yesterday, much to the delight of the Citi Field faithful.
Game 4 pits lefties Jose Quintana against Ranger Suarez against one another in what is arguably one of the more tougher matchups to bet on.
Quintana blanked the Phillies just under a month ago when he threw seven scoreless innings, while Suarez gave up a couple of home runs to the Mets just over a fortnight ago on the road.
Both sides finished the regular season ranked middle of the league in strikeout percentage against southpaws, but it’s also worth noting the pair ranked Top 5 in runs scored.
I’m leaning the way of the Phillies given they posted a league-best 43-25 mark following a previous loss, especially with the likes of Nick Castellanos and Bryce Harper holding strong career numbers against Quintana.
That said, everything suggests this should be another high-scoring game, so you can definitely pair the head to head market with the Over and feel good about it.
- Tip: Back the Phillies to Win @ $1.87
- Player Pick: Bryce Harper to Hit a Home Run, Jose Quintana Over 4.5 Strikeouts
Game 3 – Series Tied 1-1
We’ve got Clarke Schmidt taking on veteran Seth Lugo with the Yankees and Royals all tied up at one win apiece.
Schmidt has limited Postseason experience, and while Lugo has made only four starts himself, his work against the Orioles last week was solid – allowing just the one run across 4.1 innings.
If you’ve been paying attention to Lugo’s numbers over the last month or so, that start wouldn’t have come at a surprise.
The 34-year-old righty has posted the 16th lowest ERA among qualified starters over the last 30 days, also allowing only one home run over his last five starts.
The Yankees’ power hitters are yet to fire in this series, in particular Aaron Judge, who is yet to prove himself at this time of year.
In a pitcher friendly ball park, I’m leaning the way of the Royals with Lugo leading the charge for at least four innings.
- Tip: Back the Royals to Win @ $1.94
- Player Pick: Seth Lugo Under 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed @ $1.64
