No. 13 Statuario

J: Damian Lane (57kg) T: Emma-Lee & David Browne

Statuario is making his third start for trainers Emma-Lee and David Browne.

The three-year-old son of D’argento caught the eye when giving good chase on debut for second at Pakenham, a race he probably would have won if he wasn’t held up out of the turn.

His next start saw him go around at Sale where he finished down the order a fortnight ago, clearly finding the step back to 1100m not to his liking.

Fitter now and out over further, he’s one of the main hopes if he gets the right run from the wide gate.

No. 1 De Bergerac

J: Michael Dee (60.5kg) T: Grahame Begg

De Bergerac goes well on the fresh side, as we saw when he came out and won on debut at Seymour last November.

Grahame Begg quickly sent him to the paddock for a lengthy three-month spell, resuming at Ballarat earlier in February where he made good ground out wide for fourth.

His next effort at Flemington was sound, overcoming a slow start to grab third in a race that has produced some good form since.

Returning a gelding, this looks a winnable race for him back in grade.

Cranbourne: Race 8 (4:30pm)

No. 10 Mr I’m A Believer

Open race that could see a few come out and win at a nice price.

Mr I’m A Believer is one on the shorter side, which makes sense given he’s placed in both runs at Pakenham and Sandown since returning to work.

He’s only lightly-raced for a six-year-old, but does draw to get a lovely run from the tail of the field with Luke Nolen retaining the ride.

The son of Make Believe was attempting a harsh step up to 2100m from the mile last start, so with fitness now on his side, he should be running on strongly.

No. 1 Keane Enuff

J: Luke Nolen (59.5kg) T: Patrick Keane

Keane Enuff looks one of the main chances having come up trumps with the inside gate.

The five-year-old son of Rich Enuff spent time racing in town last time in work, notably placing in back to back starts at The Valley.

He appeared in need of the run when resuming off a six-month spell at Swan Hill last month, and has now been given a good four-week gap between runs.

If he lands on the speed early and dictates, he’ll be hard to run down.
