No. 7 Luckyheleft

J: Joe Bowditch (56.5kg) T: Rachael Cunningham

Luckyheleft has made a habit of finishing just outside the placings in his last four starts.

The lightly-raced six-year-old has been up for a while, returning off a three-week break last start over a similar distance at Geelong where he was held up badly for a run at the top of the straight.

He still showed plenty through the line once clear, and with his maiden win coming on a soft track, he does appear well-suited by the wet conditions under foot.

No. 8 Dancinginthedark

J: Daniel Stackhouse (59kg) T: Michael Kent

Dancinginthedark just needs luck from out wide to go her way.

The daughter of Testa Rossa has spent time racing against tougher company of late, clearly looking a little outclassed at Sandown last start when weakening badly down the straight to finish eight lengths off.

This level is more in her wheelhouse, as we saw three back when she returned to the winners stall over the same trip.

If she gets a nice cart across early and settles off the speed, she’ll be hard to hold out.

No. 6 Cryptic Clue

J: Jason Maskiell (59kg) T: Matthew Brown

Cryptic Clue is open to a stack of improvement from the inside gate.

This gelding by All Too Hard was racing off a five-week break at Bairnsdale last week where he was seen flashing home late for third after giving away a start.

On less of a turnaround now and proven on wet tracks, he’s one of the top contenders in a fairly open race.

No. 10 Shanghai Venture

J: Celine Gaudray (58kg) T: Brian McGrath

Hard to fault the form of Shanghai Venture this time in work.

Brian McGrath’s mare won second-up here earlier in her prep, going on to cash a cheque in her next two starts over 1200m at Bairnsdale.

She’s finally drawn an inside gate after being forced to make up ground out wide all prep, and with some decent soft track form to her name, she’ll likely be charging into the frame over her final few strides.
