The UFC is back in Saudi Arabia, and we’ve got an incredible card this Sunday!
From your favourites in Corey Sandhagen and Marlon Vera, to seasoned veterans Tony Ferguson and Michael Chiesa, this card has everything a fight fan could want.
There are some bouts on the Main card that don’t excite me one bit, but today, we’ll be talking about the ones that do, and you can find my thoughts down below.
Originally scheduled for last year, Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov will meet in the octagon this Sunday and fans are over the moon to see this one finally come together!
Sandhagen is currently on a three fight win streak as has the momentum coming into this bout.
The 32-year-old has made some major changes in preparation for this one, calling for the assistance of the legendary trainer, Trevor Wittman – who’s worked with the likes of Rose Namajunas and Justin Gaethje.
Nurmagomedov is unbeaten in his last 17 appearances and to no surprise, the bookies have backed him at the time of publication.
The winner will be next in line for a title shot, and Umar should hug his way to a decision victory.
Fans are ecstatic to see former number one contender Marlon Vera and former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo share the octagon in what fans believe to be a fantastic matchup for the pair.
Figueiredo has made his voice heard since moving to 135 – going two for two beating the likes of Rob Font and Cody Garbrandt respectively.
Vera challenged The Suga Show at UFC 299, losing in an tough battle via unanimous decision.
This is a bout that has more than enough juice to be the Main Event on a different card but having it on this stacked one is a decent alternative.
Back Figueiredo to win via decision.
UFC fans will be delighted to finally have these two veterans square off, more than eight years after they were initially meant to fight.
Both Ferguson and Chiesa have had absolute shockers – both on significant losing streaks being seven and three with no respect what so ever.
There’s only one way for their stories to continue with this losing streak and that’s backing the draw.
I don’t believe either one will show enough to get a convincing win, they may have a winning round between them, but the third round will show why they both need to hang up the gloves.
Back the draw and on to the next.
