No. 2 High Dandy

High Dandy has been given a nice gap between runs ahead of this much easier assignment back to Class 1 level.

Brad Widdup’s four-year-old by Ace High came out and won his maiden by nearly five lengths at Wyong to kick off his prep during the autumn, before going on to finish down the order at Group level in both the Carbine Club and Tulloch Stakes.

He was unsuited by the heavy conditions last time out but does come to hand quickly. Back on a dry deck, he’s the one to beat.

No. 1 Northern Eyes

J: Jay Ford (59.5kg) T: Kim Waugh

Northern Eyes impressed when winning his maiden a fortnight ago with plenty left to give.

The gelding by Zoustar took over at the 200m mark here over the same trip, racing away to win convincingly thanks to a smart steer from Jay Ford.

He’ll carry top weight for his efforts in this contest, but against a small field, a similar effort would see him hard to hold out.

Hawkesbury: Race 6 (4:25pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Seascape

J: Rory Hutchings (57kg) T: Michael Freedman

Seascape just needs luck from out wide to be a real threat on return.

This boy won his maiden nicely on debut at Gosford back in April where he made every post a winner to go on and score by two lengths.

He had some excuses up to Saturday grade two weeks later at Rosehill where he was fractious in the gates and bumped early on.

Off two soft trials and proven over this trip, he’ll be strong in the finish if he produces his best.

Hawkesbury: Race 7 (5:00pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 12 Grenoble

J: Jay Ford (56.5kg) T: James Ponsonby

Grenoble is an intriguing runner going around at good odds for trainer James Ponsonby.

The European-bred six-year-old has been around the money of late, cashing a cheque in two of his last three starts at Wyong and Bathurst, the latest coming over 1800m a few weeks ago.

He’d probably prefer a little sting out of the track, but if he gets across early from the wide gate and lands on speed, he’ll prove tough to run down.
