No. 4 The Act

J: Zac Wadick (56.5kg) T: Brad Widdup

The Act debuts here on the back of four trials across two preparations.

The Brad Widdup-trained Zoustar colt was particularly impressive in his most recent trial where he showed good speed to lead before dashing clear under his own steam to win easily by 2.5 lengths in good time.

Widdup’s horses are flying this season and the stable currently sits at the top of the NSW Provincial premiership.

Apprentice Zac Wadick, who claims 2kg, can give the promising youngster a great run on speed.

No. 4 Excelindeed

J: Tim Clark (57kg) T: G Waterhouse & A Bott

Excelindeed returns for his second preparation on the back of two very nice trial wins.

The most recent saw the Waterhouse & Bott-trained colt show a clean pair of hooves to go all the way for a 4.8 length win.

He demonstrated good ability in his first campaign at Canterbury when run down to finish a nose second on debut before fighting gamely second-up to finish a half-length third.

Top frontrunning jockey Tim Clark pilots and will make full use of a low draw to drive forward and hopefully lead.

No. 8 After Match

J: Tyler Schiller (57.5kg) T: Peter Snowden

After Match impressed when bolting in by 3.5 lengths over this course over 1100m at Hawkesbury first-up to break his maiden status.

The Peter Snowden-trained Zoustar colt returned to Hawkesbury for his second start and gave a good account of himself, leading until the final stages to finish a neck second.

He’ll strip fitter third-up and I like the booking of Tyler Schiller.

There looks to be good speed in the race which will help him given he has a fitness edge over most of his rivals.

No. 4 Terra Mater

J: Nash Rawiller (56kg) T: J M Austin

Terra Mater returned in great order over 1200m at Rosehill last start.

The Jarrod Austin-trained mare got her head in front but was swamped by the impressive Kazou to finish a half-length second.

She’ll have come on since that run and boasts an excellent second-up record that includes wins in her past two preparations.

The rise to 1350m is ideal and she maps to get the run of the race for Nash Rawiller.
