Caulfield: Race 4 (1:45pm)

No. 2 Duke De Sessa

J: Mark Zahra (61kg) T: Ciaron Maher

Duke De Sessa appears to have a fitness edge over a few of his key rivals.

The son of Lope De Vega doesn’t win out of turn, but he was held up badly a fortnight ago at The Valley despite being afforded a dream run in transit along the rail.

It’s worth noting he was attempting a sharp rise in distance that day, so this does look a nice setup sticking to 2000m from another soft gate.

Caulfield: Race 5 (2:20pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 4 Arkansaw Kid

J: Luke Currie (58kg) T: Ben, Will & Jd Hayes

Arkansaw Kid looks in for another successful prep based on his first-up performance.

The Lindsay Park-trained son of Harry Angel came out and won the Regal Roller impressively by three-quarters of a length, timing his run to perfection down the outside where he appeared to have plenty left to give through the line.

There’s plenty of class engaged in this field, but back over 1100m from an ideal gate, he still has big claims with improvement to come.

Caulfield: Race 6 (2:55pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 1 Growing Empire

J: Mark Zahra (58.5kg) T: Ciaron Maher

Growing Empire resumes in the McNeil Stakes.

This promising colt by Zoustar is two-from-three to begin his career, claiming the Group 3 Breeders’ Stakes last time out at Morphettville where he led from barrier to box to score by 4.5 lengths.

He’s jumped out well leading into his return and just needs to get across early from the wide gate to make every post a winner.

Caulfield: Race 9 (4:45pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 7 Pride Of Jenni

J: Declan Bates (57kg) T: Ciaron Maher

Her win in the Queen Elizabeth back in April was simply the stuff of legends, so it comes as no surprise to find Pride Of Jenni jostling for favouritism in the Memsie with the equally talented Mr Brightside.

Ciaron Maher’s mare can take a few runs to warm up, but she’s looked sensational at the jumpouts leading in, while there’s no question she can run a nice race over 1400m fresh.

Likely to set the tempo up front, she’ll take a power of beating if she gets out to a early lead.
