Sunshine Coast: Race 6 (2:33pm)
Race Starts in: Race Finished
No. 7 Flying Trapeze
Flying Trapeze should go close if he produces the same turn of foot that saw him go half a length clear at Doomben a fortnight ago.
He’s a bit of a query on a truly wet track, but there’s no question he’ll see out 1400m after bolting in carrying a similar weight in just his third run back from a spell.
He still has scope for improvement with Celine Graham taking over and we’ll likely to see the pair settle patiently in behind the speed.
Randwick: Race 8 (3:35pm)
Race Starts in: Race Finished
No. 3 Schwarz
Schwarz resumes off a brief two-month spell for John O’Shea and Tom Charlton.
The Zoustar entire stamped himself as one to watch when winning the Listed Amanda Elliott at Flemington last spring, picking up where he left off later in the autumn to run second in a Stakes race at Rosehill, and eventually claim the Hawkesbury Guineas.
His latest effort in the Fred Best at Eagle Farm was lacking, but he’s bounced back nicely with a recent trial win at Warwick Farm and looks set to run a huge race.
The Valley: Race 7 (3:55pm)
Race Starts in: Race Finished
No. 11 Mathew
Mathew has been a tricky horse to follow, but it feels as though he’s starting to work a few things out now.
The son of Tavistock was a strong winner a few weeks ago at Sandown over 1800m, hitting the front at the 200m mark and responding nicely to the challenge laid down by Star Vega, who has since gone on to win his next start.
This is only his second look at The Valley, but hard fit now with four runs under his belt and an inside gate finally in his favour, he’ll be hard to beat carrying next to no weight.
The Valley: Race 5 (2:40pm)
Race Starts in: Race Finished
No. 1 Acromantula
Acromantula returns from a spell after last contesting the Group 3 Roma Cup at Ascot in April.
This son of Written Tycoon is a bit of a first-up specialist, while he’s also put together a tidy resume at The Valley that includes a win of the Listed Carlyon Stakes around this time last year.
His two recent trial wins have been solid and he’s drawn to receive every chance from barrier one with the experienced Craig Williams in the saddle.
