Live and sold-out at the Ball Arena in Denver Colorado, UFC Fight Night will feature a ranked flyweight bout between Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez and I cant wait!
Co-Main action will see Argentinian Santiago Ponzinibbio and Russian Muslim Salikhov battle it out for a future-ranked opponent.
And finally, can Drew Dober join the winner’s circle this weekend against the Brazilian Jean Silva?
You can find my tips and preview on UFC Fight Night Denver, down below.
Rose Namajunas claims to be the best, but is she?
Numbers suggest not, given her form is up and down like a yoyo, whereas Tracey Cortez is undefeated in the UFC.
Now ranked number 11 in the flyweight division, Cortez is looking to elevate her winning streak to 12 and I don’t see an avenue where she doesn’t do that.
Cortez has gone to the judge’s scorecard in her last seven bouts and won all of them.
Not to mention, Namajunas has gone the distance in her last four bouts.
Expect a dominating performance by Cortez, as she’s my best bet on the card.
Two top-class welterweights finally cross paths this weekend in Denver and when we see veterans fighting for a shot at the Top 15, you know they have the drive, the motivation and the eagerness to reach those heights once again.
37-year-old Ponzinibbio will make his way into the octagon for the first time since UFC 287- and for the fans who don’t remember, the Argentinian stopped fan favourite Kevin Holland in the third round.
The pair were initially set to square off several years ago, however illness to Salikhov prevented that from happening.
This matchup could be anything, but I’ll back Santiago to win via points.
Classy southpaw and hometown hero Drew Dober will remain on the main card this weekend following a last-minute switch of opponents, as new challenger Jean Silva is jumping up a weight class following a clinical performance at UFC 303 only two weeks ago.
Dober is looking to bounce back this weekend after a loss in february to Renato Moicano derailed an inevitable shot at the top 15.
Silva on the other hand is two fights into his UFC career and with the quick turnaround he’s produced, he’s looking to impress CEO Dana White and hopes to earn a shot at a ranked opponent this year.
It’ll be a tough matchup for both of them, and I’m taking the crowd-pleaser and the “Mile High City” resident Drew Dober to clinch the win ever so slightly.
