No. 4 Tarpaulin

J: Zac Lloyd (57.5kg) T: James Cummings

Tarpaulin was impressive here on on return a few weeks ago over the slightly shorter trip.

Godolphin’s smart two-year-old ran into some traffic approaching the final furlong, only bursting into the clear late to finish second behind Maywood in similar conditions.

His wet track experience gives him an edge over his rivals and he should show further improvement with fitness now on his side.

Warwick Farm: Race 2 (1:25pm)

No. 7 Pink Shalala

J: Kerrin Mcevoy (57kg) T: Chris Waller

Pink Shalala ran on well first-up at Wyong last month over a longer journey.

Chris Waller’s gelding had no luck in running when forced to shift three-wide into the straight, but I thought he fought on well to close the gap on his way to finishing second.

A truly heavy track might test him, but the low gate and the step back to 1200m are two big positives heading into this second-up assignment.

Sandown: Race 4 (2:10pm) Bengal Boy

Race Starts in: Race Finished

No. 4 Bengal Boy

J: Damian Lane (56.5kg) T: Matt Cumani

Bengal Boy is a previous Stakes winner with genuine claims in a wide-open contest.

The gelding by Dundeel claimed his maiden over this track and distance last  year before being sent for a lengthy spell not long after.

He’s shown plenty of ability since returning to work and just needs luck in running from barrier seven under Damian Lane.

Set to peak now over his preferred trip, this looks a nice race for him to return to the winner’s circle.

Sandown: Race 6 (3:20pm)

No. 3 Written In Code

J: Damian Lane (60kg) T: Annabel Neasham

Written In Code looks set to peak in her third run back for Annabel Neasham.

This impressive daughter of I Am Invincible has been super honest during her brief time at the races, finding the money in four of her five starts since debuting last year.

She was strong on return at Mornington last month running on out wide for third, and has been given a nice gap between runs now.

Proven on wet tracks, she rates the rightful favourite in strong race between the sprinters.
