No. 7 Radstar

J: John Allen (57.5kg) T: Thomas Carberry

Radstar finds the right race to finally breakthrough for a maiden win.

The daughter of Adelaide didn’t handle a heavy track last start and will enjoy returning to a dry surface.

In her three previous races, which were all on the grass here, she finished runner-up on each occasion and was perhaps unlucky not to win two of them after being held up.

John Allen should be able to settle in a prominent position and give her every chance.

Ballarat Synthetic: Race 5 (3:00pm AEST)

No. 8 Ruminate

J: Eoin Walsh (57.5kg) T: Matt Cumani

Ruminate was a sick watch last start when finishing just under a length third over this course and distance.

The Matt Cumani-trained gelding enjoyed a great run but got boxed away on the fence behind the leader and didn’t get clear until it was all over.

He meets the winner better at the weights and will strip fitter third-up.

In his only previous third-up race he bolted in by 4.5 lengths here over 1400m.

From barrier 4, Eoin Walsh should enjoy a great run just behind the speed.

Ballarat Synthetic: Race 6 (3:30pm AEST)

No. 2 Lady Dumont

J: Rose Hammond (62.5kg) T: Andrew Noblet

Lady Dumont fought gamely to finish a head second over 1200m on the grass track here two starts back.

The four-year-old mare appreciated the drop back to this class last start when letting down powerfully to win by half a length over this course and distance.

Andrew Noblet has elected to book Rose Hammond to take advantage of her 2kg claim.

She’s drawn to get the run of the race.

Ballarat Synthetic: Race 8 (4:30pm AEST)

No. 1 Coeur De Lyon

J: Linda Meech (60kg) T: Tom Dabernig

Coeur De Lyon was held up badly when resuming from a long break over this course and distance two starts ago and really should have finished closer than the 3.2 length margin.

The Tom Dabernig-trained gelding bounced back last start when storming home here to win by just under a length.

He races particularly well on this surface and will strip fitter third-up.

Linda Meech should give him a lovely run from an inside draw.
