Murray Bridge Tips & Preview – Saturday, June 15

Ten races make up the program this Saturday at Murray Bridge.

Neds’ Adelaide racing expert Ben Said shares his thoughts and best bets in this week’s preview.

RACE 1 11.27PM – SPORTSBET JOCKEYS WATCH HANDICAP (900 METRES)
No. 2 Putanothercoinin

Very hard race to assess over the 900m.

Putanothercoinin looks to be the most talented on exposed form but has to contend with the widest barrier, which can be very tricky over such a short distance where the race could be all over after 50m.

It is a no bet race for me, in saying that if he does everything right and jumps clean he should be hard to beat.

RACE 2 12.02PM – FRED ELLA TYRE AND CRASH REPAIRS HANDICAP
No. 1 Prince Jofra

I am going with the ever consistent Prince Jofra, he looks well placed again and looks a great bet each way.

Last start they simply just went too slow and he didn’t get a chance to build into the race, but it looks to be set for a better tempo here.

He gets a good draw again and maps to get a lovely run just in behind the speedm which will make him hard to hold out.

RACE 3 12.37PM – COGRATS HAZEL FERTIER AWARD 2YO PLATE
No. 3 Dyer

Dyer looks a progressive gelding, his debut was impressive off the back of some good trials where he pinned his ears back and was actually quite soft on the line.

Barrier 9 looks a little tricky, the hope is that he can cross from the wide alley, if he gets to control the tempo from the front he is going to be extremely hard to beat.

RACE 4 1.12PM – THOMAS FARMS HANDICAP (2000 METRES)
No. 6 Smokin Princess

She is airborne this mare, Michelle Payne has got her going super, winning three of four starts.

She has won at this track last start which is a positive, the tempo looks to be okay here she should get her chance to charge at them late.

Despite going up a touch in grade, she should be able to handle it and be very hard to beat off her recent performances.

RACE 5 1.47PM - SPORTSBET FAST FORM HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
No. 2 Three Rings

Three Rings was really impressive in his last start, looking super in the yard before backing that up in the race with a win.

The horse he beat Sachem didn’t have much luck and looks talented and this race is no stronger to my eye, so he should be able to sit handy to the speed and be in this for a long way.

His main dangers in this field are running well but are struggling to get past the post first, while Three Rings is coming into this off a strong win.

RACE 6 2.22PM – SPORTSBET BET WITH MATES HANDICAP – BETTING ODDS (1200 METRES)
No. 1 The Great Baby

The Great Baby looks ready now having found the right race, dropping back in grade, with a good draw and the claim.

In his last couple of starts he hasn’t had much luck from the barrier, but he looks very well placed here, he can sit handy to the speed and get a great run in transit.

His main dangers are going to be out the back and he will be very hard to beat.

RACE 7 2.57PM – SPRY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION HANDICAP – BETTINGS ODDS (1400 METRES)
No. 7 Billie Bronx

Wide open race here and I’ve landed on Billie Bronx first up, who showed good ability last preparation and he should be very competitive in a race like this.

He has a great record first up, gets in with the claim and a good barrier draw, I expect him to roll straight on to of the speed and be very hard to get past, he looks a nice each way play.

RACE 8 3.37PM – HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY DEANE PANNELL 3YO – BETTING ODDS – (1200 METRES)
No. 13 Lingani

Stylish won first up in weaker company, rises in grade here, he has always promised to get to Saturday grade and be successful, finding the right race here to test him.

There should be a good tempo in this race, where they will take a seat and have the last shot at them as the leaders tire late, he will be charging at them hard late and can win.

RACE 9 4.17PM – CARLTON DRAUGHT MURRAY BRIDGE CUP 12 OCT – BETTING ODDS (1000 METRES)
No. 8 Klabel

Finds a perfect race for him here with good speed over the 1000m, he gets a plum draw in Barrier 3, Jake Opperman is riding in good form and I expect him to be very hard to beat from the low draw.

He can sit in behind the hot speed and charge at them late he should be too good in the concluding stages, this track suits him nicely.

RACE 10 4.50PM – SPORTSBET SAME RACE MULTI HANDICAP – (1800 METRES)
No. 9 Fox Gem

Fox Gem can bounce back here off an average effort last start, getting back to Murray bridge suits him, they just have to ride him dead cold and let him do his best work late.

Im not super confident he picks them up with such a wide barrier, but he can finish off hard and I am happy to play him each way in the last in an open race to round out the day.
