Ballarat: Race 3 (1:20pm)

No. 2 Dazzling Sky

Jacob Noonan gets back on Dazzling Sky after combining to find the money first-up in a small field at Sale.

Tony Noonan’s three-year-old featured in the placings two weeks ago in a similar assignment at Seymour, beaten over three lengths in the end after over-racing early in transit.

The son of Sooboog continues to improve with racing though, and having handled soft tracks right throughout his prep, it’s unlikely he’ll be a maiden for much longer.

Ballarat: Race 5 (2:35pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 7 Morrisette

J: Tatum Bull (60.5kg) T: Simon Ryan

Morrisette has drawn slightly awkwardly in barrier seven but is likely to find this drop back to country level right up her alley.

The daughter of Pierro went around at Sandown three weeks ago over 2100m, giving good chase at the top of the straight before eventually being crowded between a pair of runners and beaten two lengths.

She did run a place here as a two-year-old in just her second start and is unlikely to struggle with the rise to 2600m.

Needs a touch of luck from the gate, but soft going and the step back in class make her tough to beat.

Ballarat: Race 6 (3:10pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Pyrois

J: Luke Nolen (60kg) T: T & C Mcevoy

Pyrois continues to race well deep into his prep.

The McEvoy-trained son of Written Tycoon just missed out in a similar contest at Seymour last start, bolting in over the final 100m after finding some traffic out of the turn.

His two career wins have come over 1200m and he typically goes well on rain-affected tracks.

Loves to get back and run on, so the wide gate might help him save something for the finish.

Ballarat: Race 7 (3:45pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 El Rocko

J: Daniel Stackhouse (60.5kg) T: John Mcardle

El Rocko looks a nice price for a gelding coming back to compete at provincial level.

His last three efforts at the midweeks have been solid, running on strongly down the outside at Sandown for a place two weeks ago out over 1400m.

The return to his preferred trip is an enormous plus, while Daniel Stackhouse does have some experience in the saddle.

Look for him to get right back off the speed and if he gets the breaks, he should be finishing strongly over the top.
