Swan Hill: Race 2 (12:50pm)

Win

No. 2 Miss Winslet

Forget Miss Winslet went around at Benalla a few months ago where she blew the start and was beaten close to seven lengths.

This smart filly by Shamus Award found the line nicely in a tougher race at The Valley to finish runner-up the start prior, a solid form reference that has seen the winner Dark Journey go on and win again at Cranbourne recently.

First-up off a three-month spell with the blinkers on for the first time, this looks a lovely race for her if she can settle back early behind the speed.

Swan Hill: Race 5 (2:35pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 7 Unseen Ruler

J: Dean Yendall (59kg) T: Matthew Williams

Unseen Ruler has been given a good gap between runs after making up late ground to grab third at Warrnambool last time out.

His previous effort at Caulfield when second-last left a bit to be desired, but he did let down well with a strong turn of foot to just miss out on a place over 2000m three runs back.

Draws to do no work along the inside under the experienced Dean Yendall, while the step back to the mile could be seen as a plus with a month between starts.

Swan Hill: Race 6 (3:10pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 8 A Votre Sante

J: Billy Egan (58.5kg) T: Patrick Payne

A Votre Sante should settle toward the tail in the hopes of saving her best for late.

The daughter of Tavistock is going on close to a year since she last tasted a win, but recent efforts suggest that mightn’t be the case for much longer.

A last-start third at Ballarat stands out nicely on paper where she was seen giving good chase once a late gap opened up over a shorter trip.

Hard fit now for two runs back and set to peak, this looks a lovely race for her to go on with the job.

Swan Hill: Race 7 (3:50pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 4 Stageman

J: Beau Mertens (57.5kg) T: Gavin Bedggood

Stage Man could prove too good for these having placed at Group 1 level in the past.

The old boy hasn’t won in quite some time, but does get in carrying just 57.5kg off a freshen-up after struggling to make up ground at Caulfield last time out.

His previous effort in the Golden Mile was strong at Bendigo, taken right back from the inside gate on his way to finishing fourth after a big run coming off the speed.

Fitter fourth-up and back to 1200m are two ticks in the right box.
