Geelong: Race 1 (1:00pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 3 Earth God

J: Jye Mcneil (58kg) T: A & S Freedman

Earth God will take a power of beating after taking on a tougher race at Caulfield on debut.

The Freedman-trained colt was only fair to the line when finishing a clear third to Interest Point, but he should take plenty of benefit away coming back to compete at provincial level over a slightly further trip.

Barrier 1 is a big plus and Jye McNeil should have a good feel for him now.

If he can get to the front early and establish a spot on the speed, good luck catching him.

Geelong: Race 5 (3:00pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Each Way

No. 3 Freedom Escape

J: Tom Madden (59.5kg) T: Paul Preusker

Freedom Escape was close to another win before finding excuses last start on Swan Hill Cup Day over a similar distance.

Paul Preusker’s five-year-old drew a difficult gate and was always wide in the run, eventually found to be lame post-race after finishing down the order beaten close to six lengths.

Beforehand, he’d found the money in three consecutive starts, including here at Geelong where he was runner-up to the impressive Cat Noir.

Drawn a nice low gate this time, he’s capable of producing a bounce-back performance at nice odds.

Geelong: Race 6 (3:30pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 10 Mahrez

J: Fred W Kersley (59.5kg) T: Lindsey Smith

Mahrez just needs luck from out wide to run well.

This son of Iffraaj was back in the money two weeks ago over the track and distance, giving good chase over the final 200m when the speed quickened to be denied by half a length.

Sticking to 1700m is a big plus and he does own a win third-up on his resume.

Now that Fred Kersley has a feel for him again, he should prove tough to hold out.

Geelong: Race 7 (4:00pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 3 Kimberley Pearl

J: Luke Cartwright (61kg) T: Ciaron Maher

Kimberley Pearl has been around the mark in both runs back, improving on a midfield finish at Sandown to run second at Sale over 1200m.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock has been given a solid eight-week let-up between starts and has typically performed well on the fresh side with a win and a place to her name.

She was seen doing her best work late through the line last time out and gets in well with the claim put to good use.
