Pakenham: Race 1 (5:15pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 3 Night People

J: Craig Newitt (59kg) T: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young

Night People is a progressive three-year-old looking to build on last fortnight’s maiden win at Cranbourne.

The Busuttin and Young-trained gelding found the front along the rail and gave a kick at the top of the straight, drawing clear by over three lengths in the end.

The fact he handled 1400m first-up reads incredibly well for this, and he’ll likely have no problem finding the lead again from the low gate.

Pakenham: Race 6 (7:45pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 2 New Sovereign

J: Damian Lane (59.5kg) T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr

New Sovereign looks to be a smart four-year-old in the making for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr.

This son of German Group 1 winner Sea The Moon was enormous on debut at Pakenham last month, storming home down the centre of the straight to score by 1.75 lengths.

He loses Jye McNeil this time but gains Damian Lane, the pair likely looking to adopt similar midfield tactics from barrier 7.

Armed with late speed in a fairly thin race, another win wouldn’t surprise.

Pakenham: Race 7 (8:15pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 8 Real Alliance

J: Daniel Stackhouse (60kg) T: Luke Oliver

Real Alliance strikes a similar assignment to her latest runner-up effort at Sale a fortnight ago.

The mare by Real Impact was strong through the line off a wide run in transit, beaten just under a length in the end in just her second look at 1400m.

Fitter now for two runs back and drawn to get a soft run with Daniel Stackhouse back in the saddle, she should be tough to hold out.

Pakenham: Race 8 (8:45pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 10 Toronluca

J: Daniel Stackhouse (59.5kg) T: Luke Oliver

Toronluca looks suited over longer after giving late chase for third at Cranbourne three weeks ago.

Luke Oliver’s mare claimed her maiden win here at Pakenham over the track and trip just over a year ago, and has since had her runs spaced with two placings to her name.

The wide gate leaves Daniel Stackhouse with options, but if she settles handy and avoids another slow start out of the gates, she’ll be thereabouts in the run home.
