Dummy Spit appears to be better suited over these shorter sprint trips after finding the rise to 1100m a little sharp two weeks ago.

The Magnus gelding won narrowly the start prior over this track and distance, timing his run to perfection down the outside from a wide gate.

He’ll strip fitter now for two runs back and rates highly again with the claim put to good use.

Magadan has gone close on a number of occasions this prep, finding the line for a place in his last three efforts.

Peter Gelagotis’ gelding quickened over the final furlong two weeks ago to finish a distant runner-up to The Cunning Fox, while the form from his place effort three back at Cranbourne has also held up nicely.

Drawn to get back in the run from the wide gate, he should be charging home again toward the finish.

Saville Street gave a good sight on return at Cranbourne late last month, his first run back in close to a year.

The Hayes-trained Kiwi import just lacked the fitness over the final 100m once the pace quickened, but there has been some likeable form to come out of that race since.

Drawn a better gate on this occasion and proven over further, this looks a nice race for him to improve further.

Perfect Gold is a promising filly from the Hayes camp looking to remain undefeated in just her second race start.

The daughter of Gold Standard burst clear to win on debut at Ararat late last year before quickly being sent back to the paddock in time for the winter.

She hasn’t been seen at the trials, but with enough early speed to offset the wide gate, she’s one to watch at a nice price on return.
